Syed Noor recently made some really fucked up and problematic statements regarding the status of our cinema. The director’s last release was the terrible-god-awful-blow-my-brains-out-stab-my-eyes film ‘Chain Aye Na’ which was unarguably labeled as one of the worst films to ever emerge from Lollywood.
Starring Shahroz Sabzwari, the film lacked basic thought, no script and catalyzed a regression of Pakistani cinema
And while the director might have delivered hits back in the 00’s, times have changed and audiences have developed a very different palette of content consumption (something Syed Noor doesn’t seem to comprehend).
In a recent interview with Tribune, Syed Noor was quoted to say “Humayun Saeed, Fawad Khan, and Ahsan Khan are performing well but they lack star power”
I’m sorry, what? Fawad Khan and Humayun Saeed LACK STAR POWER?
He said that we need heroes like Waheed Murad, Mohammad Ali, Nadeem and Shaan (l0l) to boost films in the country
Okay, Syed Noor, firstly right now both Fawad Khan and Humayun Saeed are two of THE biggest stars we have right now – and they’ve managed to project Lollywood on an international level, something I don’t think any of your films were successful at (the truth hurts, bud). Fawad is sought after in Bollywood too, and he’s got a VERY impressive filmography that extends beyond just dramas and local content.
Also just FYI Syed Noor, Humayun Saeed is not only one of the biggest film stars we have right now, but he’s also one of the most successful contemporary film AND television producers
From starring in dramas like ‘Bin Roye’ to producing his own too, like ‘Dil Lagi’ and the upcoming drama ‘Alif,’ Humayun Saeed isn’t just a drama marvel. The director then went onto criticize “young filmmakers” who look up to Indian cinema and emulate “dresses of artists, colors and execution in films” – but like, WHAT DID YOU DO IN ‘CHAIN AYE NA’ DUDE?
