13 Easy Recipes For Your Eid Dawats That'll Make Your Guests Go, “Wah, Maza Aagaya”

With Eid just around the corner, everyone is in a frenzy. From shopping for Eid dresses and shoes to stocking up for the big feast – everyone is busy. Just to make things a little easier for you, we found a few dishes for your Eid dawats that are super easy to make and will definitely leave your guests’ taste buds tingling with flavor.

1. Creamy Chicken Cheese Pasta

Ingredients

Boiled pasta of your choice – 1 packet

Boneless Chicken – 1/2 kg

Capsicum (cut in cubes) – 1

Olives – 1/2 cup

Mushrooms – 1/2 cup

Grated cheese (Mozzarella/Cheddar) – 1 cup

Oil – 4 tbsp

Grated garlic – 4 cloves

Salt – to taste

Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon

Black pepper powder – 1 teaspoon

Oregano – 1/2 teaspoon

Soy sauce – 2 tablespoon

Vinegar – 2 tablespoon

Chilli sauce – 2 tablespoon

Ketchup – 1/4 cup

Mustard – 1 teaspoon

Melted butter/oil – 2-3 tablespoon

All-purpose flour – 4 tablespoon

Milk – 1 cup

Method

For chicken:

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Saute the grated garlic. Toss in the chicken cubes and add salt, red chilli powder, 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder, 1/2 teaspoon oregano, ketchup, mustard and rest of the sauces.
  2. Let it cook until the chicken is tender.

For white sauce:

  1. Heat the butter/oil in the pan. Add the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper powder and oregano as per taste and mix it well until a dough is formed.
  2. Add milk gradually and whisk continuously until all the lumps are dissolved and the sauce thickens.

Assembling:

  1. Take an oven-safe dish and layer it with oil/butter. Toss in the boiled pasta, cooked chicken, white sauce and top it up with capsicum, olives, mushrooms and finally the grated cheese. Sprinkle some oregano on top.
  2. Switch on the oven to grill/broil on medium heat. Place the dish in the oven and leave it until the cheese melts and turns brown.
  3. Sprinkle some fresh parsley on top when the pasta is ready and serve.

2. Dum Ka Qeema

Ingredients

Beef mince – 1/2 kg

Oil – 4 tablespoons

Chopped onions – 2

Yogurt – 1/2 cup

Papaya paste – 1 tablespoon

Ginger garlic paste – 1 tablespoon

Finely chopped green chillies – 2

Salt – to taste

Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon

Turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon

Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon

Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon

Black pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon

Chaat masala – 1/2 teaspoon

Garam masala – 1/2 teaspoon

Fresh coriander chopped – handful

Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

Method

  1. Mix papaya paste, ginger garlic paste, chopped green chillies, and all the dry spices (except for garam masala) in yogurt and add the mixture to the beef mince. And leave it to marinate overnight.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. When the onion turns golden brown add the mince along with the yogurt mixture. Cover the pan and leave it to cook until it is properly cooked.
  3. Once the excess moisture has dried up and the mince is ready, sprinkle the garam masala and mix it well. Take it off the flame.
  4. Meanwhile, take a small coal and heat it up until it is piping hot. Take a small piece of foil and place it in the center of the pan. Pour in a few drops of oil and cover the pan immediately, letting the smoky aroma infuse properly in the cooked mince.
  5. After 5-10 minutes when the smoke is properly integrated in the mince, remove the coal and the foil and add in the freshly chopped coriander and lemon juice.
  6. Garnish with ginger slices and lemon wedges. Serve hot.

3. Mango Delight

Ingredients

Mango (cut in small cubes) – 2

Mango jelly – 2 packets

Whipped cream – 2 packets

Sugar – to taste

Method

  1. Make the jelly according to the instructions of the pack and let it cool. Once the jelly is set, slice small cubes out of it.
  2. Whisk cream with sugar.
  3. Take a serving bowl/glass, first put the mango and jelly chunks followed by whipped cream. Repeat the process. Finally, garnish with mango and jelly chunks.
  4. Serve chilled.

4. Mint Lemonade

Ingredients

Freshly squeezed lemon juice – 1 ½ cups

Lemon (sliced) – 1

Mint leaves – 5 leaves

Sugar – ½ cup

Water – 5 cups

Ice – optional

Method

  1. Heat a saucepan with ¼ cup of water. Add sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Take a pitcher full of water. Add ice, mint leaves, sugar syrup, sliced lemon and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mix together.
  3. Enjoy the chilled and refreshing mint lemonade!

5. Watermelon-Lemon Fizz

Ingredients

Watermelons (roughly chopped) – 4 cups

Lemons – 2

Sugar – to taste

Salt – a small pinch

Fizzy drink (preferably non-colored) – 2 cups

Method

  1. Blend the watermelons, the freshly squeezed lemon juice, salt, and sugar. You will get a thick puree.
  2. Put it in the freezer until it is chilled.
  3. Take glasses filled with ice cubes and pour in the chilled puree, followed by a fizzy drink.
  4. Garnish with watermelon cubes and lemon slices.
  5. Serve immediately.

6. Dahi Papri Chaat

Yogurt – 1 cup

Salt – a pinch

Sugar – to taste

Chaat masala – for seasoning

Boiled chickpeas – 1/2 cup

Boiled potatoes (cut in cubes) – 1/2 cup

Tamarind chutney – for topping

Coriander chutney – for topping

Sev – for garnishing

Papri – 10

Method

  1. Whisk yogurt until smooth and season with salt and sugar.
  2. Arrange the papris on a platter and top them up with chickpeas and potato cubes. Pour over a spoonful of yogurt followed by both the chutneys. Season with chaat masala and garnish with sev.
  3. Serve.

7. Mini Sandwiches

Ingredients

Boiled and shredded chicken – 1 cup

BBQ sauce – 2 tablespoon

Iceberg lettuce – as required

Mayonnaise – 4 tablespoons

Salt – for seasoning

Black pepper powder – for seasoning

Bread slices – 10

Method

  1. Add BBQ sauce in the shredded chicken and mix well.
  2. Roughly chop lettuce and add mayonnaise. Season with a little salt and black pepper powder.
  3. Mix the chicken in the mayo and lettuce sauce.
  4. Now take a bread slice and apply a thick layer of the prepared batter and cover it with another bread slice. Cut the sandwich diagonally in four pieces. Serve.

8. Chocolate Brownie Balls

Brownie mix – 1 box

Melted chocolate – 1 cup

Sprinkles

Method

  1. Follow the instructions on the pack of the brownie mix and prepare the brownies. You can also prepare the brownies by following the normal recipe.
  2. Once the brownies are cool remove from pan and crumble them into a large bowl.
  3. Make small balls out of the crumbled brownies and let them freeze for one to two hours.
  4. Now take each frozen ball of brownie and dip in the melted chocolate, coating it evenly.
  5. Place the chocolate-covered brownie balls onto a tray and scatter some sprinkles on top.
  6. Let them chill properly in the fridge until the chocolate is properly set. The chocolate brownie balls are ready to be served.

9. Khattay Aaloo

Ingredients

Boiled potatoes (cut in cubes) – 1/2 kg

Tamarind pulp – 1 cup

Salt – to taste

Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon

Crushed coriander seeds – 2 teaspoons

Crushed cumin seeds – 2 teaspoons

Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon

Finely chopped green chilies – 2

Fresh coriander – for garnishing

Oil – 1/3 cup

Water – 1/2 cup

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add boiled potato cubes along with all the dry spices and fry for 2-3 minutes on low flame.
  2. Then add tamarind pulp and water. Mix well. Let the water come to a boil , then cover and cook until the water dries.
  3. Dish it out and sprinkle green chilies and fresh coriander on top. Serve.

10. Potato Cheese Balls

Ingredients

Mashed potatoes – 2 cups

Butter – 2 tablespoons

Boiled and shredded chicken – 1 cup

Shredded cheddar cheese – 1 cup

Salt – to taste

Chaat masala – to taste

Egg – for coating

Breadcrumbs – for coating

Oil – for frying

Method

  1. Take a large bowl and mix mashed potatoes, butter, chicken, cheese, salt and chaat masala.
  2. Make small potato balls and coat them in egg and breadcrumbs.
  3. Fry until golden brown. Serve hot.

11. Mini Burgers

Ingredients

Minced beef – 1/2 kg

Bread slice – 1

Salt – to taste

Black pepper powder – 2 teaspoons

Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon

Soy sauce – 2 tablespoon

Chilli sauce – 2 tablespoon

Vinegar – 2 tablespoon

Oregano – 1 teaspoon

Mayonnaise – 1/2 cup

Ketchup – 1/2 cup

Mustard – 2 teaspoon

Tomato/onion/cucumber slices – as required

Lettuce leaf – as required

Cheese slices (optional) – 12

Mini buns – 12

Method

For beef patty:

  1. Mix beef mince, bread slice, salt, black pepper, red chilli powder, oregano, 1 tablespoon each of vinegar, soy sauce and chilli sauce and 1 teaspoon of mustard in a food processor.
  2. Make small patties and fry until cooked.

For burger sauce:

  1. Mix mayo, ketchup, 1 tablespoon each of vinegar, soy sauce, chili sauce, 1 teaspoon mustard, black pepper and a pinch of oregano.

Assembling:

  1. Take a lower half of the bun and layer it with the sauce, top it up with the patty followed by tomato/onion/cucumber slice. Finally, add a cheese slice (optional).
  2. Apply burger sauce on the upper half of the bun and add it on top of the remaining burger.
  3. Mini burgers are ready to be served.

12. Sweet and Sour Chicken Drumsticks

Ingredients

Chicken drumsticks – 12

Balsamic vinegar – 1/2 cup

Honey – 1/2 cup

Brown sugar – 1/2 cup

Lemon juice – from 1 lemon

Soy sauce – 1/4 cup

Grated garlic – 3 cloves

Method

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl and let the chicken marinate for at least 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  2. Preheat the oven to 230°C. Bake the chicken for 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, place the marinade in a saucepan and bring it to boil and then let it simmer on low heat until it thickens.
  4. Pour the sauce on to the baked chicken and toss it into the oven for a few more minutes.
  5. Dish out in a platter and serve.

13. Bhel Puri

Murmuray – 4 cups

Sev – 2 cup

Papri – 10-12

Finely chopped onion – 2

Finely chopped tomatoes – 2

Finely chopped green chilies – 3

Boiled potatoes (cut in cubes) – 2

Coriander chutney – 4 tablespoons

Tamarind chutney – 4 tablespoons

Chaat masala – for seasoning

Salt – for seasoning

Method

  1. Toss everything together into a bowl and mix well.
  2. Garnish with some fresh coriander leaves.
  3. Serve.
