Pain is inherent. It’s innate. You can’t escape it – think of it like a marathon. You can be running your entire life, and pain will be right behind you. On some days it’ll catch up, and tear you apart. On other days, you’ll feel it loom overhead, and you’ll anticipate it’s departure like a somber day with nothing but grey clouds.
So what should you do about the pain that plagues you, torturing your soul, even if you’re not exactly in any physical pain?
Welcome it. It’ll remind you how human you are. Embrace it and inhale pain in all it’s glory.
Once it leaves you, you’ll feel changed. You’ll feel like your skin has shed into new form and I can guarantee what you were before, how you felt, won’t be the way you feel after.
Pain carves its mark on your bones, and engraves trenches into your soul.
We all deal with pain in different ways. We’ll wallow in our shells or lash out because it’s the only way we know how to deal with something that submerges us in such distress and angst. I mean that’s pain, isn’t it? It is a wretched thing of a creature that sucks you soulless.
You have to learn to live in the middle of suffering and healing.
Feeling hurt is a part of life and it is a part and parcel of being alive. Don’t bury it. Talk it out and deal with it the way you’d want someone you love to deal with it. You can’t just grow thick skin overnight, and you can’t wish away anything.
It is nothing but an entrapment you have to bravely face with both fists raised in the air.
You’ll be fine. Pain is just something you have to harness. Khalil Gibran once wrote, ‘out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.’
Once you realize the inevitability of pain always lingering in the darkness around your bubble, then you can deal with it and deal with it the best way we know how; by accepting it and working through it.
