This season of Nescafe Basement has been no short of a wonder, and a wonder that keeps on giving!
Traditionally, Nescafe Basement has been all about promoting young talent and giving them a massive stage to perform at, and this season, we had plenty of that – including an all kids band which made our jaws drop to the floor.
But cue this EDM genius, the 18-year old Abdullah Siddiqui who has blown away all the charts with this new, absolutely unprecedented track:
Who ever thought that Pakistan would be blessed with such 🔥 electronic music?
The song is not just a treat to listen to, but also an absolute visual delight!
The set was filled with multiple patterns and lyrics of the song which evolved with the music, and the lights added to entire feel which just makes you want to dance along with the track! The song uses laser harp which is an electronic musical user interface and laser lighting display (and also gives it that groovy vibe)
But what’s more awe-inspiring than the song is the artist, Abdullah, who has been making music ever since he was a kid.
He got a computer when he was 10, and it was at that point he discovered the fact that most of commercial music was made on a computer only. Then began his journey of discovering beats and music, and by the age of 11, he had recorded an entire album worth of songs on his good old system!
Before Nescafe Basement, Abdullah has performed on the Lahore Music Meet and has been nominated for Lux Style Awards in the Best Emerging Talent category.
According to Abdullah, Lahore Music Meet allowed him to be introduced to the music network of Pakistan, all leading up to the release of his original song, Resistance, which caught Xulfi’s attention.
About the song itself, Abdullah wrote, arranged, produced and recorded Resistance in just 3 days!
When Xulfi and Abdullah finally met, they knew instantly that this was going to lead to a musical revolution in Pakistan and had the potential to be a historic moment, and we know that it absolutely is!
All in all, people are just super thankful for Abdullah and his music!
And there are some already comparing him to The Weeknd and the likes.
And to the fact that these young musicians are hitting the mark so brilliantly!
Honestly though, we’re all in awe and we’re sure you are too. Let’s just go and blast this song on repeat now!
