Muslims Are Boycotting Kanye West And Yeezy For Naming His New Shoes After Angels In Islam

By Anoosha Rehan | 26 Aug, 2020

Muslims are pissed of Kanye West for disrespecting Islamic theology

Kanye West is a renowned American rapper, producer and fashion designer who is married to Kim Kardashian. “Adidas Yeezy” is a collaboration between sports and fashion brand Adidas and the rapper that has been successfully running for years around the globe. The sneaker line is significantly known around the world and are always a hit but they’ve managed to piss off many Muslims this time.

Recently, Adidas introduced their new line of shoes with the names, “Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Israfil and Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Asriel.”

Muslims are outrageous at Kanye West, the face of the line, for naming the shoes as Israfil and Asriel who are two of the four archangels in Islam

Israfil is the angel usually depicted with a horn that he will blow on the Day of Judgement while Asriel is known ad the “angel of death” and is said to transport the souls of the deceased.

Muslims are feeling disrespected by Kanye West and are viewing this as “making a mockery” of Islam

People are pointing out how this is disrespectful regardless of the religion and that the names of angels should not be associated with footwear

They’re also demanding a boycott of the brand and Kanye himself

It’s worthy of noting that Kanye West has recently been involved in making bizarre statements after he announced that he would be running for the upcoming elections in the USA. West has been subject of mental health concerns after his public meltdowns and even making statements against his wife, Kim Kardashian.

People are coming together to sign petitions to get Adidas to change the name of the new shoes

Muslims around the globe are coming into unity over this massive disrespect over the new shoe collection by Kanye West and Adidas. Some concepts are sacred to various beliefs and the four archangels and their names are sacred to Muslims. The fact their names are being used over pairs of shoes is not sitting right with Muslims. Regardless of whatever the intentions of Kanye and Adidas may be behind the naming, the actions have resulted in Muslims being hurt and offended.

What do you all think about this whole situation? Let us know in the comments below.
