If there’s anything that has pleasantly shocked Pakistanis recently is the fact that kabhi kabhaar, Pakistan main bhi insaf mil jata hai. First, it was Panamagate. Now, it’s the imprisonment of the man who stabbed Khadija Siddiqui 23 times.
In a surprising, yet absolutely welcome, turn of events, Shah Hussain, the attacker, was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment.

Shahzeb Khanzada’s tweet about her inspirational fight could not be truer. Khadija Siddiqui had to face character assassination and an unnecessary intervention by Facebook to get to this point. The odds were stacked heavily against her. Which is why the win comes as a surprise.

Khadija’s attacker being held responsible for his actions is a great step forward for our legal system. It shows that despite having connections, you can and will be made to pay for your crime. We sincerely congratulate Khadija for being the brave fighter she is. Let us hope that this serves as a lesson for those who think they can get away with such heinous acts.
