This Fashion Show For Children Held In Karachi Has Pissed Off A LOT Of People

By Haddiqua Siddiqui | 19 Jan, 2019

Karachi is not new to hosting happening fashion shows and bridal couture weeks. However, a certain fashion week was not appreciated by many that took place in the metropolis yesterday.

What was meant to be a fashion show featuring children of all ages, became a bizarre event because people started bashing the kids and their parents for allowing them to walk the ramp.

In the wake of the numerous reported and unreported cases that have involved children as a subject of abuse, the fashion show became controversial, rather than a mere event in the city of lights. One thing that really got to people on social media was the dress that the girl is wearing.

Someone said this was an open invitation to child abuse.

There is no “invitation” to child abuse, though. No one asks to be abused. Let’s get that straight.

Zarrar Khuhro, a renowned journalist was among the many to call this event absurd.

This man was angry at the audience more for sitting and enjoying the show

Someone said action should be taken against all those who are promoting such events in the city

This woman thought it was taking away the innocence of these children.

Some pointed out how these children should be enjoying their childhood instead of walking ramps

Someone pointed out that this is not our culture and is against our values.

People even started bashing a certain class in the city

Some people thought it was irresponsible and just shameful to hold such events.

People also pointed out how this is problematic.

This person was worried for our younger generation growing up with the wrong values.

Some people started abusing and called this a bad trend.

Look, you may not agree with the event and that’s fine. But you can’t say that it’s an invitation for children to be abused. Children that young shouldn’t be sexualized in any way, shape or form. And no one ever asks for something as horrid as abuse.

Khair what do you guys think about such events? Is it okay to host such shows in the city? Tell us in the comments below.
