Justice Khosa stole the show
As the Supreme Court overturned Asia Bibi’s conviction today, the country’s fallen into a bit of a chaos
While may are lauding the Supreme Court for standing at the right side of history and making a landmark decision of acquitting a falsely accused person, religiously conservative factions are angry at the lost opportunity to carry out the first court mandated execution under Pakistan’s extremely controversial blasphemy law.
The judgment is being hailed as landmark but of particular note is Justice Asif Saeed Khosa’s additional note
Justice Khosa is known to have been part of the Supreme Court benches in other landmark cases, like the case against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s illegal investments – known as the “Panama Case”.

Justice Khosa is poised to become Pakistan’s next Chief Justice once the incumbent, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar retires on January 17, 2019 and by the looks of it, many Pakistanis are eagerly waiting for Justice Khosa to take charge of the judiciary.
