Jalebis have been a huge part of Pakistani culture for a very long time. They’re the go to meetha for everything. Shaadi keh liye dessert? Jalebi. Want to sweeten up a sleepy Sunday afternoon? Jalebi. They are absolutely perfect for any occasion.
Just to break it down by the way, jalebis are sweet (amazing, perfect, delicious) confections made by deep frying maida flour batter in circular shapes that are then soaked in a sugary syrup that will make your head spin and your heart full. Promise.
WARNING: This may give you extreme jalebi fever
First of all, just look at them
If I could marry a dessert, bus. Jalebi baby.
Second of all – just look at them
Uff itni khoobsoorat yaar, mashAllah.
So beautiful, sharam aarahi hai
Fun fact, these babies come from different parts of the world!
Equally beautiful obviously
Greece
Turkey
Cyprus
Waisay jahaan bhee jao, jalebis are beautiful. Universally amazing hai yeh.
But shuru sai, the jalebi actually originated in West Asia
And made its way directly into our hearts. And our stomachs. Obviously
This heavenly syrup that coats each jalebi is called chashni btw.
And it is STUNNING
The amount of chashni that goes into the jalebi depends on the total surface area that the maker can expose.
Science. Jalebi science
Can’t you just hear the crack of a crispy jalebi?
At the end of the day, chocolate, ice cream, candy- nothing can top the tastiness of a jalebi
Know anyone who loves jalebis just as much as we do? Tag them and all other jalebi babies who wouldn’t mind a sweet snack or two to warm up their day.
