A few days ago, uber creative Sara Shakeel got in touch with MangoBaaz to share a Hollywood-inspired piece of art she created:
The dentist turned conceptual collage artist has been noticed and appreciated earlier for her downright trippy aesthetic:
Infusing diamonds and jewels and flowers and neon in her pieces, Sara has recently started experimenting with landscapes in Islamabad.

And we’re digging it.

So naturally we were quite taken by her unique idea of turning Islamabad into a Hollywood-isque epicenter.

She imagined it sitting atop the iconic Margalla hills.
This image was originally taken on a Blue Area intersection. Can you spot the Metro bus? Oh, boy do I have a bone to pick with that but perhaps a discussion for another time…
There were A LOT of people who thought it would be kinda, sorta cool.
There’s always a bunch of “those” guys:
And ummm…we’re hoping this was sarcastic, at best:
But then, it started a wider debate.
On wildlife and preservation of natural beauty:
Which is basically true, Islamabad is such a gem that the latest invasion of billboard installation is a plague in itself.

What is this commercial dream advertisers and brands are trying to shove down our throat while all we’re trying to do is immerse in the scenic marvel that is Islamabad? In case you feel as strongly about it as I do, sign the petition here.
As for the Hollywood-inspired sign. Sigh. Perhaps a distant possibility magar dil ko behlanay ke liye khyaal acha tha. What do you guys think? Is it a worth a hoot? A yay or a nay?
Turns out, someone also tagged the mayor’s daughter:

Not sure if this is real or a joke but we’ll take our chances.
