Hamza Ali Abbasi has come forward to support Fawad Chaudhry and talk about the pending Eid ul Fitr decision.
According to the Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, the lunar calendar prepared by his Ministry is the accurate metric for the declaration of Eid. Hence the holiday was declared to be celebrated tomorrow in Pakistan.

Now, obviously, since Fawad Chaudhry went ahead and announced the verdict for Eid without taking the opinion of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, this shook the internet.
While some people are calling out Fawad Chaudhry for going against religious clerics, others are simply enjoying the drama unfold from the sidelines.

In this battle between Fawad Chaudhry and Mufti Muneeb, an unlikely ally seems to have come to Chaudhry’s defense: Hamza Ali Abbasi.
The actor who is notorious for his long rants on social media just inserted himself in this clash between science and clerics and surprisingly sided with the Minister in this debate.
Tracking the movement of celestial bodies in order to map and predict the duration of months, solar lunar eclipses etc is a field solely for Astronomers, Astro Physicists, Meteorologists or other SCIENTISTS and NOT for EXPERTS/STUDENTS OF DEEN bcz ITS NOT SUBJECT OF DEEN AT ALL.

According to the actor, religious experts are not qualified in matters regarding astronomy, and hence deciding the dates for the lunar calendar should not be left up to their devices.
Hamza Ali Abbasi, siding with Fawad Chaudhry, believes that a more meticulous approach is needed in such a scenario and the matter should be decided by those having knowledge of astrological sciences not those who are well versed with matters of religion.
The actor clarified that he believes that the two are vastly different fields and deciding the date for Eid is a matter of expertise for scientists.

He followed this up by saying that he does not believe that there is an overlap between religion and science.

Now, obviously, his tweet was also met with quite a lot of outrage. People started attacking Hamza for being unqualified enough to make sweeping statements as such and called him out for having no authority to give his two cents on such a sensitive topic.
He tried to defend his statement, but once again, all it managed to achieve was further confusion.
