Game of Thrones is kinda, sorta, a big deal and possibly one of the most influential shows in our times. Call me a fangirl but no other show has come close to the kind of anticipation Game of Thrones has. Spoilers of NO OTHER SHOW have ever been an open declaration of war. We’ve seen some people take the fandom to a whole new level by making it a part of their wedding, others fighting over the legitimacy of Game of Thrones omelettes, while the rest discuss plotholes and theories on fan forums. Suffice to say, the obsession is real.
Amidst all this fandom, one Pakistani wife raised the bar by arranging a complete DIY Game of Thrones themed surprise birthday party for her husband.
Rimsha Zahid is a Throner and a lifestyle blogger who was “too broke to afford any real presents”
So, she decided to throw her husband Shehryar a “Game of Thrones” themed birthday party.
…Since they both have been long time fans of the book series and the show.
WELCOME TO WESTEROS, you guys.
Please be a good sport and leave all your weapons outside.
The birthday was called “Nameday” as per the custom in the society of the Seven Kingdoms in Game of Thrones.
In A Song Of Ice And Fire, people are named the same day as their birth and get to celebrate it annually.
And the decorations were super frikken cute.
Like these do-able banners:
And the decorative dragon eggs just waiting for Khaleesi:
The Iron Throne for the Protector of the Realm, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms…
And antler crown.
For Rimsha herself, but of course. Haha ~
There was the very, VERY important Joffrey dartboard to take out all your frustrations.
Go on, you know you want to. He was an EVIL, EVIL child.
And good ol’ Monopoly, also synonymous with “war”:
Can we move on to the most important part of the party which is of course….FOOOOOOOOD.
Complete with the Weirwood Tree centerpiece.
Rimsha SERVED them puns.
And boy did…
Speaking to MangoBaaz about all her efforts, Rimsha says, “Apart from all the decorations, all the food items were also puns with references from the show. A couple of them, I came across online and the rest I came up with myself. The Iron Throne and Dragon Eggs probably took the most effort to make but it was really fun putting it all together (also a little stressful). Shehryar and I are both HUGE fans of the show. He even collects all the actions figures. He loved everything and he was really surprised because I did it a day before his birthday and he just thought he was coming to pick me up from my parents’ house. We also played the Game of Thrones theme song when he entered and all in all, it was an absolute pleasure doing this.”
Guess who’s getting the Wife Of The Year award?
