Language is such a funny thing, especially when it comes to words and names that have very different – and very inappropriate – meanings when translated into another word. That’s kind of the same thing that happened when somebody found a children’s clothing store with an extremely inappropriate name.
So, the clothing outlet is actually called ‘Kaminey”
Yeah, you heard that right, “Kaminey”. For those wondering, the term literally translates into someone will rip you off or back stab you, in Urdu.
Turns out the brand with the not so welcoming name is based in China
The brand is apparently a subsidiary of a Chinese garment giant called Guangzhou Jin Yi Garments Co., Ltd.
Normally you would expect the goras to make such faux pas because the Chinese practically live in this country now. What makes it worse is that this is actually a children’s clothing brand.
Naturally, Pakistanis had a lot to say about the presence of such a store
Some used there own creativity to make new brand names
There were those that pointed out to other brands that made a similar mistake while choosing a name
The store has been making the rounds of the interwebs for a couple years now

Interestingly, a local store in Karachi is also very inappropriately named
Although this is borderline name-calling it’s not as bad as Kaminey, which is literally a gaali.
Well, considering that is a local brand, the chances of selecting this name full knowing its meaning are high. Guess it’s a marketing technique to attract the urban youth.
