For some time now, we’ve been hearing several conversations around the water crisis in Pakistan and dams that need to be built in order to prevent it.

Chief Justice Pakistan has been actively involved in raising funds for building the Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams. The Supreme Court appealed to the general public, including Pakistanis residing abroad, to donate for the cause. The entire conversation around these dams has caused quite a stir.
Amidst all the dam conversation, Sindh however, has allegedly achieved the completion of 50 operational dams. As many as 31 new dams are under construction while some are under the tendering process according to the Sindh government – or so some people claim.
“We can proudly show to the world that 50 small dams, bunds and weirs have been completed in the province whereas 31 dams of similar size and nature are in process of construction” #Sindh #Water #MuchMoreToDo #ButWeHaveBeenOnIt https://t.co/hr5eVYtanR

Bakhtawar Zardari explained what the PPP government has been actually doing about the water crisis in detail – also attaching a map of Sindh showing its current water situation.
Sindh gov focused on lining of canals, building small dams, sewerage treatment 4 irrigation use, ultrafiltration & solar reverse osmosis plants. Most 2 limit water waste. It might be a great initiative on their part, but people are not buying it.
Yet Karachi doesn’t have a drop of water and people are forced to buy it. Where did you build the damns, in Bhutto shrines???
— Chalak Meghan (@ChalakMeghan) September 13, 2018
Why Karachi doesn't have water then?

Some are really pissed and have been lashing out at PPP.
Chal jhoti, PPPP is in power from almost 5 decades and i feel sorry for our city and province what you have done with it. Just open a photo album of Karachi before 70's you will realise what your govt has done with this city alone, leave the rest of province.
— AK (@AsimKaramat) September 13, 2018
With due respect #PPP has been in power for ages in #Sindh, why weren't corrective measures taken before the problem became so alarming? Why must we always be firefighting?
— Ali Naveed (@AliNaveedAkbar) September 13, 2018
Some are accusing them of doing the “Tanker Mafia” business in Sindh
Lol what a joke!! Is all the water directed to Bilawal house, since karchiites are living on tankers. Oh, I forgot PPP is running tanker mafia with the water generated from THESE dams 👏👏👏

Whether the dams do really exist or if they are operational is still a hard thing for most people to believe given the current situation of Sindh – where scarcity of food, water, electricity, and several other things is still a prevalent problem. Let us know what you think about this whole situation in the comments below.
