AIB's Desi Rewind Video Just Gave Us THE Realest Review Of 2017

By Sarah Babar | 25 Dec, 2017

All India Bakchod, also more commonly known as AIB, is possibly the biggest comedy group in India. With a massive following in Pakistan as well, the young engineers-turned-comedians churned out their second rewind video, to date. The Desi Rewind video called ‘Peeke Mat Challa’, takes a look at the year that’s gone by and predictions for the future

The video is also a public service message (one that some Pakistanis need to learn, as well), to never drink and drive, for the sake of the lives of people around you, and also your own

They first dive straight into Game of Thrones commentaries (spoiler alert?)

WhatsApp’s delete feature was brought into the light

As was Twitter increasing the character limit

They flipped to the age-old Rashq-e-Qamar to shed light on the negativity that happened in 2017

The thing is, the halaat in India and Pakistan are so similar, that your heart sinks listening to the song, regardless of where you’re sitting

So whether they spoke about inadequate facilities in hospitals and spending millions on political rallies

Or speaking about how many people die on train tracks, every year, because of bad conditions, and how the nation is expected to be silenced on promises of fast (mildly orange) trains

They spoke about how there was so much smog in the country this year

Dilli ki bajaye Lahore bol dau, kahaani ek hi hai donoun taraf

Lynching due to social media was also brought under scrutiny

Remind you of anything?

They spoke about the heart wrenching passing away of Linkin Park’s frontman, Chester Bennington

Also how there was unnecessary outrage at films (‘Verna’, ‘Chupan Chupai’)

And how that took attention away from real issues (illiteracy, lack of sanitation, no clean drinking water, poor quality of life, minority targeting, must we go on?)

But it ended with good wishes for all

Whether they’re politically woke Members of Parliament

Or getting to kill that annoying machchar in the first try

Watch the Desi Rewind here and let us know what y’all thought

Now tau we’re all just waiting for Yasser Puri’s Year In Review video AMIRITE?

P.S. peeke mat challa, this New Years, yaar
