By Arslan Athar | 10 May, 2019

Affan Waheed has been winning hearts all over Pakistan since his performance in the hit TV drama, ‘Do Bol’. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Affan’s fandom reached ‘crush levels’ after the show aired. Riding high on this success, Affan sat down with Samina Peerzada for an interview, and as can be expected, we learned a lot about Affan Waheed and his life.

Affan begins by talking about the success of ‘Do Bol’.

He said that he definitely feels overwhelmed with the response and also feels totally dumbfounded. He also recounts how some people have asked him if this was his first drama; he takes this as an indication of how big the drama was, people who don’t normally watch dramas saw ‘Do Bol’.

There was a lot of discussion about his childhood, but the topic slowly moved to love and marriage.

When Samina Peerzada asked him about how he got married, Affan simply replied by saying ‘I’m not married, I’m divorced’. He goes on to talk about how his divorce was a very difficult time for him. Affan talks about how he would lock himself up in his room and ‘howl’. Affan reveals that he’s not the type of person who cries in front of others, but at this point in his life, he would cry in front of his close friends.

Affan describes this time as ‘depression’. He couldn’t figure out what was triggering his constant sadness, but he was constantly feeling low. He credits his family, especially his siblings, for his recovery and his ability to move past his divorce. He describes the feeling of moving on as someone coloring in a black and white photo. He said that his divorce was very messy.

Affan talked about his childhood and how he had to move a lot.

Affan’s father was in the Air Force and was constantly being posted to different cities in the country. This meant that Affan and his siblings would be moving as well and also starting in different schools after every 2-3 years. He talks throughout the interview about the positive influence his father on his life and how his dad encouraged his studies as well as his aptitude for art.

He keeps making references to his childhood and how his father was a strict figure in his life, however, this strictness is what he feels has made him the man he is today. Affan talks in detail about how his father was very particular about all his children’s parhai and making sure they excelled. Affan revealed that he was always a top student, which made his father want him to become a doctor. However, Affan had a lot of artistic talent and thankfully his father helped to foster it and even encouraged him to apply to NCA.
