Pakistani television is at its peak these days, as it bats out riveting storylines packaged in exceptional visuals with magnificent acting. Sarmad Khoosat, best known as the director of pioneering drama ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Shehr-e-Zaat’ returns with miniseries ‘Aakhri Station.’ Produced by ‘Kashaf Productions,’ (the people behind ‘Udaari’) ‘Aakhri Station’ stars Sanam Saeed, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Nimra Bucha, Adeel Afzal and Salman Goher among others, as they coalesce in an ensemble cast for what is set to be a thrilling serial.
The miniseries comprises of seven individual stories revolving around seven women, all unrelated and inflicted with varying tribulations
The series is only seven episodes long and will entwine all seven females onto the same train
‘Aakhri Station’ centers around seven female protagonists, with the male counterparts in supporting roles
Snippets of Amjad Islam Amjad’s poetry has been narrated by Bollywood veteran Shabana Azmi for the trailer
Each story will be given a unique treatment, with these short stories crafted in different aesthetics
Social taboos such as depression, HIV, drug addiction, prostitution, violence against women and mental health will be shed light on
Sarmad Khoosat stated that “what I’m striving to achieve with this series is an honest, socially relevant, hard-hitting story that provokes thought and reaches a wider audience”
Even if it impacts one person, I will feel that the drama has accomplished its goal”
