Eid is just around the corner and though it may feel like we JUST had Choti Eid, the celebrations are coming and Pakistanis can’t be more thrilled. Can you blame us?
That is they were until the government announced our Eid holidays…
Pakistanis are now super pissed at the government after they announced this year’s holidays.
#BREAKING: Caretaker Federal Govt announces three holidays for Eid-ul-Azha.
As per the Interior Ministry's notification, Eid holidays will begin from Tuesday, August 21 to Thursday, August 23#CapitalTV pic.twitter.com/yErEIbaDOH

So, to clear up any confusion, people are angry because the announced dates are from Tuesday, the 21st to Thursday the 23rd of August. Which means that the third day of Eid will technically be a holiday. The reason why people are upset is that this means we have to go to work on a Monday, take off three days in the middle of the week and then go back to work at the end of the week before the weekend even starts. In the past, the government has normally tried to tie up the holidays to the weekend to avoid this sort of a thing.
And according to Twitter, it seems like a lot of people are bothered by the announcement

Of course, there are people who believe the holidays are perfectly fine and are actually in favor of the new government’s decision.
Extremely good decision! People like me go to work on third day of Eid as well as Saturday! Finally, government doing the right thing!

However, it seems the bad reactions are taking over the good and the anger may be getting the government to rethink the dates issued as holidays.
Here’s hoping Twitter can change the fate of our Eid break!
