The Government Made An Account To Stop Fake News But They Just Got Trolled By A Fake Account Of Their Own

The government works fast but fake news works faster.

The rumor mills are in overdrive these days and there is tons of fake news being churned out by the second.

Just yesterday there were rumors that Zulfi Bukhari’s sister Maleeka Bukhari has been appointed as the head of the Benazir Income Support Program. And everyone called this nepotism of course. Until she herself tweeted that neither was she related to Zulfi Bukhari nor was she appointed as the head of BISP.

This prompted an outraged Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry, to tweet as well saying that his ministry would do everything in their power to combat fake news.

And the minister was very quick to deliver on his promise to combat fake news… by making a Twitter account.

The Twitter account is going to tackle any fake news being spread on social media and nip it in its bud. The government is clearly taking their responsibility to disperse information very seriously. But someone clearly thought this was a great moment to annoy them just a little bit.

And a lot of people poked fun at this new initiative.

Asking the government to combat fake news which shows them in a good light as well.

And someone took this opportunity and immediately did so by making a fake account of the account dedicated to busting fake news.

And the government was pissed! They immediately tweeted about how there was only one official account for the fake news buster and any other account was fake.

Now, we don’t really know the intent behind the account yet. Whether someone made it just to troll the government or if their intentions were more malicious in nature and they wanted to derail the attempt by the government to actually discredit fake news.

But to discourage any trolling or actual attempts to hurt the governments new initiative, the Fake News Buster account gave out a statement saying that they would pursue legal action against any accounts impersonating them.

But that clearly didn’t stop trolls.

And people had a very helpful suggestion for the governmen.

Let’s see how this plays out for the government since Pakistanis clearly do not leave a single opportunity to troll the government.

What do you think about this fake news buster account? Let us know in the comments!
