Agha Ali Talks About His Illness In A Recent Interview, And It's Actually Inspiring

Agha Ali has acted in many Pakistani TV dramas but very few people know about his struggle getting to where he is now.

The actor recently sat down with Samina Peerzada on her digital show ‘Speak Your Heart’, where he gave a lot of details about his life.

Agha Ali’s father was Agha Sikander, a very popular TV actor from back in the day. After his father’s death, he decided to take up acting. After he did a couple of dramas, he was banned by the United Producers Association in Lahore. According to him, he gave an interview saying that new talent should be allowed into the industry. The Association read this and found it offensive thereby banning him, ending his career at the time.

Agha Ali found himself in a strange space and decided to move to Karachi for a while.

The actor was still unable to find work and was in a really bad place, but he finally got his break.

But luck wasn’t on his side.

Right as he was about to begin work, the actor contracted psoriasis, which is a skin disease that results in blotches and irritation. These blotches and patches also begin to bleed. Agha Ali’s psoriasis was pretty extreme. He was always incredibly itchy as well as bleeding all over.

The actor was inflicted with the disease for almost 2 years.

He said that he became a recluse and was just isolated in his room, with his cat, Moglu. Agha Ali, rather cutely, said that when his cat died, it was as if it took his illness with it because a week later, he started getting better. He still has psoriasis but it has been controlled a great deal.

Agha Ali also talked about nepotism in the Pakistani Entertainment Industry.

He said that at the pace we’re going, we’ll surpass India in no time. He went on to say that in our industry, the scripts given to someone who has connections is far better than someone who came in on their own accord. It’s interesting that he’s saying this given that earlier on in the interview he said that he expected a ‘warmer reception when he joined the industry’ given that his father worked with a lot of people.
