British-Pakistani singer Zayn Malik relishes in the shadows of his public image. His occurrence out in the wild world, be it an interview or a concert are both rarities. He’s a quiet rock star, a far cry from his on and off girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid who holds a somewhat louder personality – something she revels in. The power couple graced the cover of Vogue magazine together, dishing out intimate details about how they like to occasionally ‘gender-bend.’
Zayn and Gigi swapped clothes for the venerated magazine with a ‘blasé’ attitude

In the photo shoot, Gigi is seen sporting various outfits that cross the traditional norms of ‘gender conventions’ along with boyfriend Zayn
According to Vogue, the photoshoot’s underlying tone is a growing custom in the fashion realm based on gender fluid people, i.e. those who don’t identify themselves to have a specific gender.

Critics, however, have dismissed the spread as not correctly projecting the gender fluid community

Think Vogue is a bit confused on what gender fluidity is! Wearing your gf's T-shirt does not make you gender fluid https://t.co/5yvh8FmUky pic.twitter.com/yPADJDwvPV

The couple, both who are cisgender were condemned for promoting those who are gender fluid – a distinct and separate entity of people

Cis celebs get anointed gender fluid in the press just for rocking a little pastel. Where is the chill? https://t.co/2rtl2Z2JjI

To have two personalities both from minority backgrounds on the cover of Vogue was commendable for many
nepotism bla bla bla aside, in this political climate US Vogue put a muslim immigrant, and a half palestinian on its cover. that's important pic.twitter.com/U1IX7NfImr

The couple talked to the magazine out details about their intimate life and how they delve in each others’ wardrobes
Gigi said, “I shop in your closet all the time, don’t I?” To which Zayn responded “Yeah, but same. What was that t-shirt I borrowed the other day?”

What do you think of the photo shoot? Do you agree with the criticism received?
