Our traditional styles and prints have been a source of inspiration for multiple international brands. From gota shirts, to charpais they have taken inspiration from desis quite a few times.

ZARA has recently come out with a “Check Mini Skirt” that looks oddly familiar…

It has a striking similarity to one of our very own traditional ensembles

THE DHOTI!!! Not only are they selling a lungi/dhoti claiming it’s a skirt…but they’re selling it for $89 which is about Rs 10,000.

People are pretty furious about it

Especially when you can get a lungi from the homeland for about $2

Who wore it better?
Who wore it better? And yes Zara, that's a lungi! pic.twitter.com/65KwCBxIDC

This person was especially upset about it
It is a lungi. What suspicion and all? My grandfather would burn down the Zara store if he found they were selling lungis for the price of a 5-course meal.
He'd also burn down the restaurant later for charging that much money for food btw.— Arijit Paladhi (@Punladhi) January 30, 2018
What do you guys think about this? Would you buy a lungi for Rs 10,000?
