Things aren’t the same anymore; it’s really as simple as that. The #MeToo movement revolutionized the world for the better. Sexual harassment, in particular within the pop culture realm has become a stressing concern, be it dialogue or physical contact – it’s murky waters these days.
Famous Indian production house ‘Yash Raj Films’ has now come under fire for reposting a famous dialogue from one of Bollywood’s most iconic films.
‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is one of Indian cinema’s most treasured films, however as awareness around consent grew over the years, along with the #MeToo movement, this dialogue has been condemned after the production banner tweeted this scene of Simran and Raj on a train.
The caption ‘Yash Raj Films’ coupled with the scene was “HIS antics will leave you smiling.”
In the scene, Raj (Shah Rukh Khan), leans uncomfortably close to Simran (Kajol), at first asking her if he’s seen her somewhere before (lying that he must have met her at Robbie’s party) in a flirtatious bid. Simran is clearly uneasy and bellows back that she doesn’t attend parties.
Raj tries once again, and leans into Simran and compliments her eyes before she demands him to leave her alone.
Twitter users responded in outrage that in 2019, the famous Production House was still promoting such behavior and curtailing it to an innocent interaction.
