Co-Chairman of BOL Media Group Shoaib Shaikh has finally emerged triumphant victorious as all allegations leveled against him have been proven fabricated and false. The Sindh High Court acquitted Shoaib Shaikh in the Fake Degree case on March 10, 2023.
The SHC declared that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had failed to provide any solid evidence against Mr. Shaikh. During the proceedings, the FIA investigation officer admitted that he did not know the ‘online education system,’ to which the CJ SHC scolded him, saying that the accused had been dragged into courts for eight years, and that would have created a bad image for the country.
Shoaib Shaikh has been continuously victimized and punished for crimes he never committed for the last eight years. On March 9, 2023, he was once again arrested by FIA in Islamabad for avoiding investigation in a case of allegedly bribing a judge for his acquittal.
Without any evidence or proof, he has been accused of giving Rs5 million in bribes to former additional sessions judge Pervaiz Qadir Memon for his acquittal in the fake degree case.
Eminent constitutionalist and advocate Latif Khosa maintained that two FIRs cannot be filed in one case, adding the investigating officer admitted that the nature of both the cases is the same. Sindh High Court ordered to acquit Shoaib Sheikh, Khosa said and added Mr. Sheikh was kidnapped from the airport on March 9.
Basically bail is in judicial custody and there is no justification for arresting Shoaib Sheikh, he said.
He observed Pakistan has lost by closing the Exact and the entire business went to India due to the closure of Exact.
Well-known attorney Anwar Mansoor said that two FIRs cannot be filed in one case. After the order of the Sindh High Court, the release is mandatory.
“There was no evidence against Shoaib Sheikh”, said renowned lawyer Abid Zubair, adding that the Sindh High Court ordered to acquit Shoaib Sheikh. He observed that Shoaib Sheikh is being targeted as he is raising his voice for the independence of the judiciary.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan appreciated BOL Media Group’s Co-Chairman Shoaib Shaikh for his determination and courage to uphold freedom of speech and expression. He expressed these views while addressing a nation via video link from his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, on Friday.
He condemned the arrest of Bol TV Co-Chairman Shoaib Shaikh, saying that he was being targeted for giving coverage to Imran Khan and PTI. Shoaib Shaikh is facing all pressures for standing by the truth and right. “We stand with Shoaib Shaikh and Bol News”. The fascist government will be defeated,” he said.
PTI senior leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that re-arresting BOL Co-Chairman Shoaib Shaikh was beyond his understanding as he had already been vindicated in the case, according to Bol News. Speaking to Bol TV, he said that the arrest of Shoaib Shaikh was an attempt to press the voice of Bol News channel. He said that PTI stood by Bol channel and Shoaib Shaikh. “The entire country is with Shoaib Shaikh and Bol News. The fascist government will be defeated,” he said.
Due to the prejudice of the current government and his media rivals, Shaikh remained incarcerated at the Karachi Central Prison for 18 months in bailable cases. A flimsy case of cheating was filed against Axact based on a malicious news report carried by The New York Times, but no individual from across the world came forward to claim being defrauded by the IT Company.
Even the FIA was the complainant and plaintiff in the case against Axact. However, years later, the investigating officer working on the case admitted before the court that all activities of the company were legal.
Despite this, the case is still ongoing against him under a well-thought-out conspiracy hatched by the owners of the rival media channels.
The FIA official submitted a report in the Supreme Court, admitting that the case was filed against Axact as part of a conspiracy linked to a channel owner.
The then Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar, also admitted that some media owners had approached him, after which action was taken against Axact. “Just on a defamatory New York Times story, a crackdown was launched against Axact.”
It must be investigated fairly that who is pushing the case against Shoaib Shaikh and Axact, who is obstructing the acquittal and closure of the case and why hidden forces are victimizing them when the investigating agency admitted that no illegal work has been done.
Justice must be provided as soon as possible by quick closure of fake and flimsy cases and the Supreme Court of Pakistan must set an example by punishing those who pursue fake cases.
