To be eighteen again.
For those of us who are above eighteen years old, we know that at eighteen years old, you go through a lot.
Yup.
Though the physical changes may be past you (shoutout to age sixteen), the emotional shit is just getting started. Now, this may seem scary and believe you me, it is. But your official adult age is all kinds of wonderful as well.
And we know that may be a little hard to believe if you are just hitting the magic age, but for people who have been through it have plenty of stories to tell and more importantly, pieces of advice to offer.
So, without further ado, here are all the things Pakistanis know now, but wish they knew when they were eighteen years old.
Grades aren't everything
"Going abroad for uni" isn't everythingOh, and also, ALL the feelings in your head are valid. You aren't broken, you aren't hopeless and everyone loves you.

Might wanna start taking screenshots.
Now, for many, 18 is a year of friendships and how to grow as a person.
Whether it’s your energy being wasted, your time being wrongly invested or even just facing hard breakups or the end of friendships – there is a turning point.
It’s OKAY to not have lots of friends. Quality over quantity always!!
— Ayesha Ali (@ashialee99) April 3, 2019
Stop looking for validation from others. The people you think are your friends right now aren't really, and you should always be careful about where and how much you invest your energy.

Stop wasting time on stupid people! 🙏

Always do what you find exciting, do not mould yourself into someone's design, and last but not the least run away ASAP https://t.co/0mEjw6QYfV

For others, 18 may be a time in which you’re just trying to figure yourself out.
The time to risk, the time to fail and also, the time to succeed. And though that may mean messing up or getting in trouble or even disappointing some people – that is completely okay. Life has its own agenda and its own pace, the only constant is you and your determination to believe in yourself.
Don’t worry about life working out. Everyone works on their own time. Stop comparing yourself to others!

Including your parents.
This is an important time in most of our lives with regards to our relationship with our parents. You may think that they don’t understand what you’re going through or what kind of life they want you to lead, but the reality may be very different.
Your parents are more amazing then you can imagine and they will back you up 200%

And for the rest of the gang and for your life going onwards, take a few pieces of advice from people just like you who have gone through things you are probably dealing with right now.

And with this, perhaps being the most important piece of advice one can give.
It gets weirder. WAY weirder than you'd ever expect. But you get stronger too so it's ok. Don't let the world make you forget how to love, or empathize. The challenges are there to make you a better and stronger person.
