If you’re a drama-phile like myself, then you’ll have the unfortunate habit to schedule your entire day, nay week around a particular drama airing on telly. Pakisatani dramas, as I have mentioned before are unarguably the greatest things to ever grace the
nation world. I like to call it the revolution too, what with a plethora of actors dipping their toes into the blosomming drama scene with spectacular scripts, impeccable acting and thrilling OSTs, all coupling together for a delicious slice of entertainment in its rawest form.
Imran has always been very, very underrated. The actor is an unearthed gem in dramas, from ‘Gul-e-Rana’ to ‘Dil Lagi,’ playing a supporting character. At long last he was able to prove his meritorious talent as Shammo on ‘Alif Allah Aur Insaan,’ the broken transgender who falls in love with someone (Rani, played by Ushna Shah). 2018 will exhibit Imran’s skills behind the screen too, as he penned his first screenplay, drama ‘Tabeer’ for Hum Television as well as reuniting with Ushna for upcoming drama ‘Lashkara.’
Our favorite drama gal, Sanam will be marking her comeback to television with Sarmad Khoosat’s ‘Akhri Station’ starring Mikaal Zulfiqar. The on-screen duo will return after their successful stint on ‘Diyar-e-Dil,’ and will be produced by Kashaf Productions as will tell the tale woven around a train. Alongside this, Sanam has an upcoming movie ‘Cake,’ that is already giving incredible indie vibes.
Adnan Siddiqui, having wrapped up ‘Sammi’ just dropped a few enticing trailers for his upcoming pre-partition drama ‘Ghuggi’ that already has people talking. Adnan is never one to shy away from breaking barriers and experimenting, and the method actor is all set to raise the bar with ‘Ghuggi’ as he stars opposite newcomer Amar Khan. The drama will therefore be entirely weighted upon his shoulders.
Iqra Aziz will be busy in a number of projects, alongside currently aired drama ‘Qurban.’ The actress will be starring in another drama with fellow actor Shehzad Sheikh for the third time on-screen. ‘Tabeer’ has been penned by actor Imran Ashraf, and is set to be an emotional whirlwind.
Sarah Khan already wins social media life, with her 1 million fan following on Instagram. The actress will be starring with real life beau Aagha Ali for drama ‘Merey Bewafa’ on A Plus Entertainment, and ‘Bhelapur Ki Dayan’ on Hum Television.
Aiman Khan has already started 2018 with a bang as the female protagonist on Geo’s drama ‘Ghar Titli Ka Par.’ The actress will also be starring in ‘Kaif Baharaan’ directed by Nadeem Siddique, and with two Geo dramas under her belt, 2018 is only the beginning of a stellar career for Aiman.
Sajal Ali will be unarguably the most exciting drama actress to watch out for. Her highly anticipated drama ‘Aangan’ costarring a stellar cast of Ahad Raza Mir, Ahsan Khan and Mawra Hocane is set to release by March. The drama has been touted as the next ‘Dastaan’ and with director Mohammed Ehteshamuddin, it’s bound to be a good one. The actress will also be starring opposite Imran Abbas on Sarmad Khoosat production ‘Noorul Ain.’
Ahad Raza Mir
While Ahad has only signed ‘Aangan’ with Sajal Ali, we are expecting much, much more from actor-of-the-moment as he is currently reading a number of scripts. It’s only up and beyond for our next hearthrob.
Shehzad’s drama ‘Ghar Titli Ka Par’ has the actor as male protagonist, and is already two episodes in. It’s opened to critical acclaim, and while we all know Shehzad is an impeccable actor, 2018 is set to bring forth the best within him as he takes on a number of meaty roles. He will also be starring opposite Iqra Aziz in Imran Ashraf’s ‘Tabeer’ on Hum Television, and Aiman Khan in an untitled drama.
Ahsan Khan will be returing to the drama realm after his internationally acclaimed role on ‘Udaari’ as television’s most menacing antagonist in recent history. He will be toplining pre-partition drama ‘Aangan’ and will also be working on another untitled serial which he will be producing himself – it will focus on the alienation of the Christian community and is set to bring forth another social issue at hand.
2017 saw Ushna shine on ‘Alif Allah Aur Insaan’ as the beggar-turned-courtesan Rani. Her tranistion was applauded by critics and audiences alike, and while that was her most noteworthy performance of 2017, it got her the lead on two dramas slated for 2018. The actress is the lead protagonist for drama ‘Lashkara,’ produced by Six Sigma Plus (the same producers who brought forth ‘Pyarey Afzal’ and ‘Dil Lagi.’ Ushna will also be pairing up with Danish Taimoor and Javed Sheikh for an upcoming drama too by TNI Productions.
