Ushna Shah and Sonya Hussyn are two actresses who’ve been around for a bit and they are slowly becoming some of the most prominent faces in our drama industry. While Ushna has always been known to voice her opinion and be bold about it, Sonya has also had a drastic makeover and has become one of those who break stereotypes, of late.
Recently, it was reported that Ushna made some pretty abrasive statements about the staff at Pakistani airports
While calling them “perverted lesbians”, for doing a body check, Ushna went on to say
She is quoted as saying that when she goes through a security check at the airport, it is a ‘harrowing, traumatic experience’, for her and that it only happens in Pakistan.
Her colleague, Sonya Hussyn, also jumped in and weighed in her thoughts
Like they really aren’t that keen on knowing where we’re all headed to, they just try to make conversation, because when they don’t, the first thing we talk about is ‘haye kitniii sarri hui thi’.
To which Ushna said this
As a public figure, it is your responsibility to be careful about what you say
Now there is one thing that we don’t understand. These woman at the airport security are doing their jobs, with all the ‘frisking’ and everything. Yes, we all have a certain concept of personal space and we would never appreciate someone violating that but we definitely believe that there are a ton of other ways to go about expressing your disdain with the security checking practices. The rant that Ushna has gone on comes off more as elitist and extremely uncalled for.
Also, you reallyyy shouldn’t be calling them perverted lesbians since (a) you’re not sure about their sexuality and (b) you’re alleging something that may even be a criminal offense – if they really are taking advantage of their position and physically harassing someone.
They said it’s something that happens in Pakistan only but countries across the world practice security measures, much much worse than just frisking.
Also, we should take into account that in a country where a vast majority of the population exploits the security system of organizations, trying to slip by as much as they can. A country that is usually constantly under threat of violence and disturbances, needs to have really tight security checks, especially at the entry and exit points of the country. In a place like an airport, we know that the female and the male security checking officers aren’t trained as well as other countries. So, we need to cooperate with them, being the educated class and being more aware of the world.
