The Trailer For “Thugs Of Hindostan” Is Here And People Have A Lot Of Thoughts

By Arslan Athar | 27 Sep, 2018

Bollywood has put together quite the cast for its latest release ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’, the trailer for which dropped not too long ago. The movie stars Aamir Khan (yeah, already exciting), Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh (from ‘Dangal’ fame).

The movie focuses on the struggle for freedom from the British. The movie is set in 1795 and focuses on Indian resistance force that is headed by Azaad (Amitabh Bachchan).

The British look for someone to counter him, and they find a ‘thug like him’, ‘Firangi’ (Aamir Khan) is the man they pick for the job. Thus begins a fight for dominance and freedom.

For me, personally, just the thought that Aamir Khan is in this film is exciting!

The man selects the movies he does very carefully. He’s given hit after hit and performed beautifully in each one of them. I don’t think I need to remind you all of classics like ‘Taare Zameen Par’

Or even ‘Lagaan’.

His casting, therefore, gives some hope for the quality of the film and the storyline.

We also have one of Bollywood’s finest in the cast, Amitabh Bachchan. My only problem with this is that it could hurt the film more than help it, to have such large names involved.

Yes, he’s a great actor and everything, he’s an institution in himself, however, it feels like the makers of the film decided to put in big names in one film to make it a hit. Granted, that strategy does work, but it usually takes away from the movie and becomes more about the celebrities in the film.

But you have to admit, the looks that the characters have a pretty unique, it will be exciting to see all of that culminating on the screen as one complete production.

We don’t get to see a lot of Katrina Kaif’s character, most of her shots are action shots, but like, she looks smoking!

Due to the setting of the plotline, the movie required a lot of CGI and well, it does become too much as some points.

I don’t know if it’s just me but like after a certain number of CGI shots, I started to get annoyed by the effects. (Especially the effects they used for the blasts). In such a movie, the effects are important and if they seem even slightly fake or not convincing then that does ruin your movie-watching experience.

People online also didn’t seem too sold on the movie.

Some thought it was too much action rolled into one film

So, basically, leave your mind at home to go watch this movie

Katrina Kaif’s character has gotten a lot of attention

Desis couldn’t stop comparing the film to ‘The Pirates Of The Carribean’

People did NOT hold back

Like bilkul bhi nahin

Have you seen the trailer yet? What do you think? Unique or a ‘Pirates Of The Carribean’ rip-off?
