17 kgs down in 5 months! 💃💃 . When I started this journey rather publicly, I only wanted to motivate myself to lose weight as I felt that social obligation would keep me from cheating. When the results started pouring in, my only focus became reaching my target weight as opposed to posting my progress every single day. It's true that results are the BIGGEST motivators for weight loss. There is no better feeling than fitting in an old pair of jeans or clothes from the wedding trousseau (in my case); this feeling is what helped me decline all the generous offers my friends made to share their ice creams or indulgent meals. If nothing, I have gained oodles of self confidence and self retraint that I wear with pride now. . Comment below if you would like to know how I lost my weight! Rest assured, when you sign up for this journey, it won't be easy, but it certainly can be fun! . Love always, Haneen . So while Haneen is one of those women who had to face immense amount of fat-shaming she didn’t let those trolls have the best of her

Instead, she decided to muster up the strength and turn her life around. While speaking to MangoBaaz, she stated, “Every morning, I would wake up with a resolve to eat healthy and work out, but I would find that resolve dwindling by the end of the day and would resort to a  full-blown cheat meal as the weekend approached.”

The realization that she’s putting her body at risk hit her when she got her body fat percentage and cholesterol levels tested, which were soaring higher than she had expected. It was then that she decided to bring the change that she needed, not only to be physically fit, but for the sake of her health.

“Calling the first two months of my journey difficult would be a gross understatement.”

In October 2018, she created an Instagram account, which not only helped her keep track of her weight but also motivated her to achieve her goals. She further on discussed that her nutritionist and personal trainer had an immense role to play, since they managed to propel her to build her stamina and manage those sugar cravings.

“While losing 6kg in 2.5 months seemed like great progress to my trainer and those around me, I knew I could achieve my goal faster.”

She started eating balanced meals with limited carbs that were well within her daily calorie limit and would occasionally slip in a cheat meal or two that seemed justified to her but would subsequently nullify her weekly efforts. It was then that she decided to opt for something that would be even more useful for her.

“It was the quest to achieve more that made me read up on the benefits of Intermittent Fasting (IF) and adopt that as a lifestyle”, shares Haneen

Being an assistant brand manager by day and a mother by night, she started with 16 hours of fasting and an 8-hour eating window.

“Preparing separate diet meals for myself was tough on me anyway so with that chore out of the way, I would find myself getting to do easy work outs at home like running on a treadmill, elliptical or Leslie workout on YouTube”, she said.

Staying focused to achieve her goals and following the IF lifestyle religiously is what worked for Haneen.

“During my eating window, I would keep it low-carb with steaks and veggies as my go-to option and bone broth being a daily staple. To ensure I wasn’t missing out on any essential nutrient, I took Himalayan salt water and my supplements like magnesium, calcium and biotin daily”, she added.

Further on the topic, she said, “In a month of following the Intermittent Fasting routine religiously without any cheats, I lost 6kg. By this time, my body was well adapted to the IF routine, and I knew I could try the 20 hour fast with one meal a day.”

Staying in line with her workouts and diet, Haneen has been very active on her blog.

With frequent updates of her lifestyle and routine, she has also been sharing her recipes for low-carb meals to help out those who are looking for clean eating options.

I had received a lot of requests to share the recipe of my Daal without Tarka the other day. As a matter of fact, I cook with a lot of intuition 🤦‍♀️ so today, when I made #daal (#lentils) again for lunch, I made sure I write the quantities down (as much as I could) for you guys. First wash and soak 1/4 cup Red Masoor Daal mixed with 1/4 cup Yellow Moong Daal. Let it soak for 30-45 mins. Then fill a pot with water and put the Daal with the following ingredients in it to boil: – 2 pieces of chicken with bone ( chicken stock is the main ingredient that makes your daal feel less boiled) – 1 green chilli whole (saabit) – 1 button red chilli whole (saabit) – 1 medium tomato (cut roughly in 4-5 chunks) – 1 medium onion (cut roughly in 4-5 chunks) – 2 cloves of garlic – One small piece of ginger – 1/4 tsp turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp kuta dhaniya (dried) – 1/4 tsp zeera (saabit) – 1/4 tsp of pisa hua garam masala (all spice powder) – Salt (according to taste) – Saabit Garam Masala: 1 peppercorn (saabit kali mirch), 1 bay leaf, one clove (long) – Some Karhi Patta (optional) With all these ingredients, keep boiling the daal till a good 60-70 mins on low flame. (I workout after putting my daal on the stove in the mornings 😋). Add more water if you think it is required. Once you see the daal is soft and chicken is cooked through, separate the chicken and use a potato masher/hand blender to blend the daal. Then add the following in your daal: – Juice of one whole lemon – Bunch of cordiander leaves chopped – 1/4 tsp of Chaat Masala (trust me, this makes the daal SO YUMMY) – the chicken you had separated Cook for 5-7 more mins till you reach your desired consistency and eat with your favorite salad. PS. I like my daal sour and spicy. In case you don’t like that, you can always play around the quantities of lemon and chilli powder. Do tag me if you like this recipe 🙂 #weightogohaneen #weightlossjourney #healthylifestyle #healthyfood #eatfiteveryday #eatfit #caloriecount #foodporn #haneencookshealthy #recipe #indianfood #pakistanifood #lentils #daal

Along with her meals and recipes, she often tends to share workout videos that she follows as well.

Being a member of the corporate workforce, a mother, a wife and also following a healthy lifestyle with 5 days of workouts every week, Haneen is a super woman of sorts.

She continues to inspire people with her achievements one day at a time.

Addressing those who look up to her for a push in the right direction, she stated, “there is NO magic pill, there is NO easy way out. It is a lifestyle change that might not be easy at the outset but is worth the while. If I can do it, so can you.”

With 17kg down, Haneen says she’s still striving to achieve more on the fitness front. All I can say is, way to go Haneen. Keep inspiring us every day. Wishing you all the luck.
