Desi parents hate the idea of adopting pets. They come up with some of the craziest reasons to shun you from bringing a “chalta phirta janwar” home. Here’s what they say when you tell them you want to adopt a cat or a dog:
1. “Tumhein paal rahe hain buhat hai.”
2. “Tum kisi janwar se kum ho kya?”
3. “Us ka khayal kon rakhega?”
4. “Shaadi ke baad krna yeh sab.”
5. “Barkat chali jati hai ghar se.”
6. “Pehle khud ko sambhal lo tum.”
7. “Bhut beemariyan hoti hain ghar mei janwar lane se.”
8. “Acha, tota (Parrot) le aate hain.”
9. “Us k peeche safai kon krega?” or “Uski potty kon saaf krega?”
10. “Yeh sab angrezon k shoq hain.”
11. “Shaadi karlo.”
12. “Bache paida krne ki umer hai or kutte billi palne ke shoq ho rhe hain.”
13. “Ghar hai, Zoo nahi.”
14. “NAHI“
15. “Ghar mei ya to kutta rahega ya mei!”
