Sports, you either love it or hate it to the core of your heart. If you’re just not into sports you’ll hate everything about it. Watching it, talking about it and worst of all actually playing a particular sport.
Here are some things you will connect with if you weren’t a sports lover:
1. You’re at an instant social disadvantage during big events and matches
Growing up, and through some of adulthood, sports plays an integral part as to whom you connect and bond with. Its apparently a way men get together. But you’re not up for it so almost immediately you have to try about a million times harder to make friends.
2. You’ve often been asked your favorite team but you never have an answer to that
That’s an awkward few moments. Someone asks you your favorite team, you stutter a little bit and blurt it out. ‘I don’t follow sports’. If you’re lucky the person asking will change topics but then there are some idiots who’s follow up question is ‘koi sports nahin dekhte?’.
3. You sometimes consider lying through big events and games
4. Growing up, you hated when all the kids would drop everything else to play a “match”
You’d be something lame like defender or fielder (or whatever they’re called), sweat a little and pray to God that the game end soon, or that your parents decide to leave early. (PS neither would happen)
5. You enjoy playing video games… until it turns out the video game is a FIFA one
Oh the joy 🙁
Not like it was hard enough to have conversations and make friends. Sports entering the virtual world is just a new headache to add. But let’s not be so harsh. you could probably play the video game version, if not the real deal.
6. Big matches ruin your day because everyone else’s hangout plans are around watching them
Cricket World Cup or the Football Premiere League whatever that nonsense is called has a major match on Sundays. Most people will just be available at that time and you’ll just sit home and wallow in self pity.
7. You have even tried to enter a game your friends were playing, only to leave because you embarrassed yourself
You’ll bowl, and the ball will go anywhere but where you wanted it to go. You’ll try to bat and you’ll get out even before the bowler bowls the ball. You’ll even try football, but that high speed ball will almost certainly crush your own balls. Oh Lord, this is why you hate playing anything.
8. There’s always that one friend who tries their best to explain things to you
Let’s face it, it won’t work.
9. Even though you know shit about sports, you’ll still watch the Pakistan vs India match
Everyone watches that, and no matter if you get sports or not, there’s no joy like seeing India being defeated.
10. You probably will never be able to watch TV when it’s any sports ka season.
Thank God for Netflix, waisay
11. You would much rather have a fight with friends over political discussion than a sports match
At least you know the names being thrown around there.
12. Girls who know better cricket terminology than you make you feel less of a man
13. Because sports is not your expertise, you find other ways to make friends and have fun
Sports may be great and all, but its just not your cup of tea. And you know what, that’s okay. Screw the people who tell you otherwise.
