Sahir Lodhi set social media abuzz when he went on a rant against a guest speaker, defending Quaid-e-Azam on the first episode of Ishq-e-Ramazan

For those of you who don’t know what happened, a female guest speaker, Saba Rizwan Hussain, was delivering a powerful speech about the state of the country when Sahir Lodhi interrupted her and ranted about how she was wrong in calling out Quaid-e-Azam – something she hadn’t done in the first place.

In doing so, Sahir Lodhi ended up doing exactly what the speaker was raising her voice against

Where she tried to speak against the oppression of women in our society in countless ways, he cut her off. The moment was truly ironic, for, in that moment, he became every individual that has ever tried to silence a woman for speaking up. By inhibiting her from delivering the powerful speech, he angered many Pakistanis.

People were put off by his outburst

They felt that the Saba Rizwan Hussain had been insulted

They demanded an apology

Some people took to requesting Sahir Lodhi’s suspension as the host for Ishq-e-Ramazan

Sahir Lodhi has since attempted to clarify his stance. However, Saba is now speaking out in the following video that has been circulating social media platforms.

In the video, she completes the recitation of the poem and addresses Sahir’s accusations against her where he claimed she called out the founder of our nation. The video serves as a fitting response to Sahir Lodhi’s unnecessary outburst and delivers the powerful message that she had aimed to convey the first time around.
