Shehzad Roy Stood Up For Mehwish Hayat And 👏👏👏👏

By Arslan Athar | 27 Mar, 2019

Mehwish Hayat, after receiving a lot of hate for her ‘Tamgha E Imtiaz’, finally spoke up against the trolls and stood her ground.

As the saying goes, ‘haters are gonna hate’, Mehwish’s post on Facebook had some pretty horrid comments come up under it.

The discussions are still the same; she did an item song and therefore is totally immoral and has no dignity. Despite her post on social media, people are not letting her go and keep shoving their point of view.

Thankfully, among all the negativity, fellow celebrity Shehzad Roy, tweeted out supporting Mehwish.

You better bet that people left Shehzad Roy with some of their thoughts.

One argument that keeps coming up is that Mehwish does not deserve the award and that others deserve it over her. This is a discussion that happens the world over whenever there’s an award involved. Think about the Oscars, or heck even the Lux Style Awards- people often feel someone else deserved recognition, however, they don’t blame the actual winner for it. It makes no sense to attack Mehwish for something she has no control over. People have gone beyond their opinion of her deserving the award- they’re attacking her morality and her past. The fact that people don’t find this type of attack problematic is problematic in itself.

Mehwish responded to Shehzad Roy and asked the Entertainment Industry to step up.

We see actors being trolled on a daily basis, however, this incident has gone on for far too long and only seems to be getting worse day by day. Mehwish is right in that the ‘industry’ needs to band together and stand up this kind of online trolling and bullying. Mehwish, or Shehzad Roy for that matter, cannot stand up against these trolls alone.

Trolling has become way too commonplace here in Pakistan, and public figures and bullied online for the smallest things. Is there any way this can stop, or at least become a less frequent occurrence?
