A note, apparently signed by Shehbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has been doing rounds on social media since last night. The note states that the Punjab government will be monitoring every Valentine’s day activity.
It further states that naujawan awaam should think twice before doing anything inappropriate under what the note’s calling “Islamic Act” and that members of Punjab Police will be appointed outside all the bakeries and gift shops.
However, despite its comic value, here is why the Shehbaz Sharif Valentine’s day announcement is fake.
First of all, no such note can be found on Shehbaz Sharif’s official social media pages. And secondly, there’s nothing with the name of “Islamic Act” in Pakistan.
Mr. Sharif’s last tweet before the note made rounds was on February 12, and it’s about the acclaimed Mystic Music Sufi Festival.

As for his Facebook page, the latest post is about the Hepatitis control program.
Meanwhile, people are apparently being killed by this note’s soft words…
OMG HAHAHAHA IS THIS TRUE?! Sharif killing me softly with his words… pic.twitter.com/9pHMk5Ki8F

Shehbaz Sharif’s social media team, while talking to MangoBaaz, confirmed the invalidity of the note.
Turns out, no such note was signed or released by Mian Shehbaz Sharif. So, all you lover boys and girls, rest assured. Aap ke pyaar pe koi daaka nahi daal raha.
Go buy chocolates and flowers for your potential baes and have fun.
Yeh bik gaye hai gormint, might have been true in many other instances, however, in this particular case, yeh bik gaye hai awaam (or the opposition/whoever is behind the fake note).
