Two of Pakistan’s most beloved goras just battled it out with each other to see who has a better grip on the Urdu language than the other.
George Fulton is a British journalist who moved to Pakistan and started working in the media here. He rose to fame when he starred in a Pakistani reality show on Geo called ‘George Ka Pakistan’ in which he chronicled his 3-month journey of becoming a true Pakistani.
George was adored by the public and he even ended up marrying a Pakistani woman, Kiran.
He even became a Pakistani national and held a dual nationality for a while but in 2011 he relocated back to his home country of the United Kingdom.
Shaniera Akram, on the other hand, is the beloved national gori bhabi. The Australian married beloved cricket star Wasim Akram in 2013. She has since then been living in Pakistan permanently and has delved into Pakistan culture very enthusiastically.
In a video both George and Shaniera shot, the two are given a bunch of Urdu sayings and they had to guess their meanings.
Whoever figured out the meaning first would win a point and the person with the most points, in the end, would win the entire thing!
The first saying is behns k agay been bajana, and Shaniera was evidently nervous to say the sentence out loud in case she would butcher the language but she does a halfway decent job. The only time one of the two completely butcher Urdu is when the saying is actually in Punjabi.
After the Urdu version, they say the exact translation out loud in English after which they set off on the task to figure out what it actually means.
Their excitement over each right answer is adorable!
And Shaniera Akram even says she thinks Wasim will be proud of her for guessing some of these. In the end, Shaniera Akram walks away as the winner but says she’s embarrassed about how bad her Punjabi is. George congratulates her but warns her that next time this might not be the case. And this might be foreshadowing at the fact that the two did something else together as well.
