Shahbaz Sharif is the brother of Nawaz Sharif, the disqualified ex-prime Minister of Pakistan and is currently serving as the Opposition Leader in Pakistan’s National Assembly. And he has previously served as the Chief Minister for Punjab.
He was actively being investigated by the National Accountability Bureau and had been called in for questioning several times for corruption in various projects such as the Saaf Pani Scheme and Ashiana Housing Scheme
But according to a statement, reported to be NAB’s officially issued one, they have arrested him for his involvement in Ashiana Housing Scheme.
The National Accountability Bureau apparently took permission from the Speaker of the National Assembly before they went on to arrest Shahbaz Sharif.
Only seconds after the news broke, people started taking to social media to post about it and even, as usual, make jokes about it and to speculate.
