So, last week ‘Mein Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka’ released on TV screens. We all were excited to see Ali Rehman Khan and Hareem Farooq on screen together again. Fans of the couple were super excited, especially considering their amazing chemistry on ‘Diyar E Dil’.
The show’s first episode left a lot to be desired, but we decided to give it another chance, just for the heck of it. However, the second episode is just….I don’t even know. Like, huwa kya hai!
Let’s start with the positives, shall we?
Ali Rehman and Hareem’s chemistry sizzled yet again.
The actors are just brilliant together, their energies bounce off each other and the result is beautiful acting which is such a treat to watch.
The ‘Mein Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka’ soundtrack for the show is just fabulous.
The melody is just really soulful is incredibly melancholic; it perfectly fits in with the show and the feel they are trying to project.
Hareem’s character, Dania’s dialogues are really powerful.
One that stuck out in particular was;
‘Humaray haan shaadiyan, maan ki khushi, baap ki izzat aur khandaan ki khushi hoti hai.’
This is going to be a quick transition to the negatives…
So, in the first episode, the most baffling thing was how Armaan couldn’t see his brother’s love for Dania. That issue was quickly resolved in this episode as he overheard Zaryab’s friend telling him off for giving such a huge qurbani for his brother. Of course, Armaan’s world comes crashing down, however, rather than talking to his brother about this, he talks to his dulhan.
Woh bhi, not nicely at all!
Armaan approached Dania rather rudely. Actually, the dialogue he starts with is rather odd.
‘Talaash kar raha hoon, tumhari aankhon mein intizaar. Meray liye nahin, kisi aur ka!’
He goes on to get more ‘angry’ (sorry, his acting is not up to the mark). As he gets more angry and heartbroken (about his own love for Dania, and breaking the bond between his brother and Dania). In the heat of the moment, he gives Dania a divorce…..YEAH.
Of course, the couple decides to hide the news the next day and pretend like the marriage is perrfect! I get that the brothers love each other so much, but phiss tou sirf Dania hai! It was such an abrupt turn in the show, as well as an exhibition of some pretty lazy writing, to be honest. It was such a moment of development and of extending the climax, however, sadly it was just resolved by a quick ‘talaaq talaaq talaaq’.
Oh haan, in the end, they just threw in Dania’s father having a heart attack because why not? Let’s add some more emotional layers to it!
