Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza and the Pakistani cricket star, Shoaib Malik, tied the knot seven years ago today. They have, throughout these seven years, been the subject of media intrusion regarding their personal life. While some of them were super inquisitive about how they manage staying together and being sports personalities of two antagonistic countries, others were worried about their plans for not starting a family soon.
During a BBC interview, Sania was asked, “When are you going to have children?”
She didn’t seem happy about the question and said:
“I find it extremely disrespectful to ask someone this question. Just because I’m a public figure, it does not give anyone the right to ask me what happens in my bedroom.”
We feel you, Sania. We do.
Amusingly, the fact that both of them are at the peak of their careers and having a baby can actually jeopardize their prospective careers is always brushed to the periphery when it comes to our desi instincts and desi inquisitiveness.
Earlier today, Shoaib Malik wished Sania Mirza a happy wedding anniversary.
While most of us couldn’t help but adore the couple, some of our very own desis, at the same time, couldn’t help themselves and bombarded the couple with questions regarding the ‘Chotay Malik sahib’ and if his arrival is imminent. Smh.
