This Eid was pretty big for Pakistani cinema. We have 4 new movies release on the weekend and for the most part, the audience responded positively. There were voices of concern as well as frustration regarding how the quality of Pakistani cinema is pretty stagnant and that storylines just seem to be playing on old trends.
One of these voices is Sadaf Kanwal.
She didn’t hold back as she took to social media to publically declare her disappointment.
Are only the same 2 Directors going to give us good, entertaining films every year? What is everybody else even doing? Seriously, worst 3 days for the films.🙄😭🤦♀️

Her ‘outrage’ was quickly picked up by Sonya Hussyn.
She’s starring in one of this Eid season’s releases, ‘Azaadi’. She replied to Sadaf’s post, defending the Pakistani entertainment industry and the current releases.
She followed it up by presenting box office numbers to Sadaf
However, Sadaf was quick to respond to Sonya and hot damn!
Sadaf definitely has a point. There’s a lot of room for growth, fo sho! And the partial Indian ban definitely helped (like it was meant to)
Many people agreed with Sadaf
Considering how people are reacting to ‘Race 3’, people MAY have just gone to see Pakistani movies
Ye tou zyada hi serious hogaye
Yikes, stuff is not looking up. I sort of feel bad for Sonya 🙁
Oh well, there are some suggestions too
Where do you stand on the issue? Do you agree with Sadaf or with Sonya? Let us know in the comments 🙂
