Saba Qamar has been slaying for a while, now. She’s known to always raise her voice when the time called for it. She was appreciated for taking up a role that most actresses would shy away from: that of Qandeel Baloch. And she was a big part of one of biggest films to have come out of Bollywood: “Hindi Medium”
Recently, one of her latest photoshoots has been garnering a lot of attention
While she looks pretty damn good in it, it also gives a very strong message, calling out our society’s hypocrisy
She’s seen smoking a cigarette, dancing away with a retro music player
Mard peeyein toh wah ?
Hum peeyein toh haaaa ?
Tum khao toh chips ?
Hum khaain toh aaloo ?
Smoking is injurious to all, not only to women.?
She says that if a man smokes, he’s considered cool, but if a woman does the same, she will be ostracized and called out, with a series of stares from everyone in the vicinity. She also says that whether a man or a woman smokes, it’s bad for humans. The gender discrimination is only in their heads.
This takes us back to the Mahira Khan – Ranbir Kapoor controversy where Mahira was thrown under the bus for smoking in public. Another similar video was put up, recently, in yet another breach of Mahira’s privacy, and the entire state of affairs doesn’t stop getting any sadder.
And people were fully agreeing with her statement
Baat tau sach hai magar baat hai ruswai ki
Other comparisons were also brought in lols
People gave in their personal accounts, too
Some called for smoking itself to be banned
And the implications of smoking were also brought into play
But there was just so much love for Saba
And there was nothing but praise for her
Yes yes yesss, that’s exactly what Saba is saying
Gender equality FTW
While people were calling Saba out for smoking in the picture, this person made it clear that it’s all about the message that Saba is giving through her picture
Ji bilkullll theek kaha
Sometimes you don’t need to say anything
We love it, too!
The point is, smoking is bad for you, your lungs, and those around you when you’re smoking. Thank you for speaking up about the fact that it isn’t a gender issue, it’s a health issue!
