Ramazan in Pakistan has its own charm
Many things happen during the month of Ramazan, however there are some things without which Ramazan, Ramazan nahin lagta.
1. Sleeping too late and missing at least one Sehri or not sleeping at all is a national sport during Ramazan in Pakistan
Literally every other roza starts off with an adventure. A dash to the kitchen and a challenge to drink a whole day’s worth of paani in a few minutes.
2. Drinking water ‘ghalti se’ at least once during Ramazan in Pakistan and then worrying ke roza toota ya nahi
Then you realize ‘shit, roza hai’, and then spitting the water out. What a glorious moment it was, when you were drinking water.
3. Quickly stopping yourself as you’re about to say a gaali
‘Yaar what the ffffffff……….falooda’
4. Distracting yourself from hunger by going grocery shopping and buying things you don’t actually need is a typical day during Ramazan in Pakistan
It takes your mind off of food, too.
5. Making food, at least once, that turns out to be either bland, or too sweet or too salty
No can taste anything, and everyone has forgotten how to make fruit chaat and limo paani.
6. Running to your local dhaaba and finding out that they’ve run out of samosas or jalebi
You’ll go, stand in line, and guess what they would’ve run out and you’ll be left empty handed.
7. Ramazan in Pakistan is incomplete unless you overdose on pakoray at least once
Dat bloating though…..
8. At least one iftari during Ramazan in Pakistan (or anywhere else, for that matter) will be spent counting down till the very last second
9. Every single Ramazan in Pakistan is the only time when everyone starts drinking doodh soda
‘Aunty mujhe nahin acha lagta doodh soda’
You’re still poured a glass, and you can’t be seen wasting food publicly during Ramazan.
10. The person next to you during tarawih, will burp some ugly burps and make you smell their iftari
You won’t be able to breathe. Who knew tarawih was so challenging.
11. You will find yourself browsing through food pages on Instagram
Nope. Nope. Don’t do that to yourself.
12. Every Ramazan in Pakistan is the one time of the year when the whole family will take ijtimaii naps during the day
13. You’ll convince yourself that you’ll exercise during Ramazan but will never actually do it
Loool! We all that ain’t happening. Stop lying to yourself.
14. You internally despise all your velayti relatives because wahan Eid aik din pehle hojati hai.
15. Someone you know will say, ‘Ramazan bohut jaldi guzar raha hai’ and you’ll be thinking the exact opposite.
But you’ll still nod in agreement.
What are some things we may have missed out on in this list. Let us know in the comments.
