Former Punjab University Vice-Chancellor and his staff are paying the price for accepting parchis.
The Former Vice-Chancellor for Punjab University, Mujahid Kamran has been arrested for corruption he committed during his 8-year tenure.
Apart from him, four other individuals serving in the Punjab University administration have been arrested as well. These include two former registrars Professor Dr Raas Masood and Professor Dr Liaqat Ali and two current registrars Professor Dr Aurangzaib Alamgir and Professor, Dr Kamran Abid.
There have been over 550 allegations of illegal appointments made by all of them combined which are currently levelled against them. Some of the charges include them also include awarding scholarships on favouritism instead of merit, giving contracts to businesses which they personally preferred and more.
And one of the charges against the former VC also includes nepotism since he appointed his wife as the principal for the Punjab University Law College.
Some people seem to be happy about the decision and are blaming Mujahid Kamran for the bad reputation of the university.

Other people pointed out that other government universities needed to be looked at as well since Punjab University is not the only one which had a corrupt Vice-Chancellor.
Lol it's not just #PunjabUniversity , its all the educational departments in Pakistan specially the Multan board are laced with corruption

The investigation by the National Accountability Bureau is still underway but they have been arrested and their testimonies will be recorded. There are always rumours in universities about corruption and favouritism but these arrests might set a precedent for the rampant corruption present in many government departments.
However, this might hurt the university’s reputation considerably but hopefully, it will recover soon.
