No, this is NOT an April Fool’s joke people. Priyanka Chopra could be starring in her own future Marvel film, after ‘Avengers: Endgame’ co-director Joe Russo revealed that he was interested in casting the actress in a future project!

Joe Russo spoke to Indian publication ‘Hindustan Times‘ and said he was in talks with Priyanka about an upcoming future Marvel film and said he’d love to work with her.

During a press meet in Mumbai, India to promote ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Joe Russo hinted that Marvel is currently in potential talks with Priyanka for an upcoming project. The director expressed how vital India was as a market for MCU, saying “India is the fastest growing market in the world for Marvel.”

I’d love to work with Priyanka. I’m smiling only because we’re potentially talking to her about something, I’m just not going to say what yet” said the director.

Joe Russo has already popped four MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) films and indicated he wanted to cast the former Bollywood star in a future MCU film too. While he hasn’t divulged what role she will be playing, it could easily be a supporting role too.

So what character could Priyanka be?

Marvel is known for having desi female characters, for example, Ms Marvel aka Kamala Khan (Priyanka voiced this character for the 2016 videogame ‘Marvel Avengers Academy’) – however, Priyanka playing Kamala Khan will be a stretch; not only is Kamala Khan of Pakistani descent, but she’s also a teenager. Another possibility for Priyanka could be Shakti Haddad (a mutant with extraordinary abilities), a founding member of X-Men 2099 and also the founder of X-Nation.

MCU’s original characters will soon be wrapping up, an Marvel will be looking to introducing more iconic heroes onto the silver screen.

‘Infinity War’ ended with most of the Avengers obliviating into dust, and ‘Endgame’ is potentially being served as the last chapter for Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. ‘Endgame’ is essentially meant to be the end of the original Avengers. Marvel has already confirmed sequels to ‘The Guardians Of The Galaxy’ and ‘Spiderman,’ along with potential follow-ups to ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Doctor Strange’ too… also, it’s worth noting that Captain Marvel was only just introduced to the MCU, and other new heroes added (Ant-Man and Bucky Barnes) will also be a part of MCU after ‘Endgame.’

So while it might be a while before we see Priyanka in her own Marvel film, it’s got fans riled up about a potential ‘Ms Marvel’ franchise.

Last year, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said how Marvel was planning to introduce comic book superhero Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) to MCU films, and now Joe Russo’s revelation about Priyanka has got fans speculating and dreading the possibility of Priyanka playing Kamala.

What do you think about Priyanka potentially being in a future MCU film? Joe Russo was a little vague about it all, but it could either be two possibilities; 1) Priyanka could, in fact, be starring in her own Marvel film as a lead, or 2) she could just be a supporting role. Either way, we’re anticipating more news around this soon.
