Soon after Asia Bibi’s acquittal was announced, religiously motivated people have been holding protests around the country. The controversial judgment has led to protests in many major cities in Pakistan, including the capital of Islamabad. Roads and exits are blocked with a ban on public gatherings being implemented in Punjab under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
At a time like this, people have been waiting for the country’s Prime Minister Imran Khan to make a statement for such a momentous case that is leading to violence
Prime Minister’s statement was doubly important at this time because he also happens to be controlling the ministry of interior and pacifying the chaos in most major cities falls under the ambit of the interior ministry.
British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad today. Amir Khan wished to play a role in promoting boxing in Pakistan. PM said Pakistani youth has huge potential in sports and positive use of their abilities is the priority of the government. pic.twitter.com/3anPEDGVqh

Imran Khan meets Amir Khan and his wife while the country is in flames. A case of while the Rome burns..
And Amir Khan drapped his wife in Dupatta and Chaadar before taking her to the PM house for obvious reasons… pic.twitter.com/oU8chBh6Y9— Sidrah Memon (@SidrahMemon1) October 31, 2018
The PM met an Iranian minister today & boxer Amir Khan – Khusro Bakhtiar met the UAE ambassador & Zulfi Bukhari inaugurated something in Lahore
At a time when half the country is shut by major protests, one would have expected an emergency cabinet meeting at the very least pic.twitter.com/3waCK3bcCY

As time passed people became visibly angry at not a single word being uttered by the government
Much like last year’s Faizabad dharna.

The Mullah Party has created a law & order situation in the whole Pakistan. What are the law enforcement agencies doing? What are they waiting for? Sinful negligence? Resignation? Our Interior Minister, who is also our PM is busy with meeting a boxer Amir Khan. Goood priorities.

After a lot of violence throughout the day without a word from anyone, Minister of Information Fawad Chaudhry announced at 5.57PM that Prime Minister Khan would address the nation “shortly”
But of course, people kept trolling them because it had been a full working day of chaos and disruption before a word from anyone in the government.

So now we await the Prime Minister’s address.
And if you’re wondering what Mr. Khan’s Twitter account has said last, take a look:
30 Oct 2011 was a defining moment. Pakistan changed & we saw the rise of a politically aware youth. Perhaps this was the only time a party broke through an entrenched two-party system & the status quo was defeated without bloodshed. https://t.co/c61bLSxvsw
