A struggle with coexistence has always, unfortunately, been a part of Pakistan’s history.
This struggle has been passed on through families like an heirloom and manifests itself time and time again. Several reports of Hindus in Pakistan facing persecution have surfaced recently. Whether it’s the abduction of minor girls and their forced conversion to Islam, only to be married off to Muslim men or the mistreatment of minorities – Hindus don’t necessarily have it easy in Pakistan at all times.
Misermayl Productions aimed to highlight the plight of Hindus in Pakistan through a video that the team released recently.
The heartbreaking narrative of the video revolves around various Hindus in Pakistan, talking about the difficulties they face – difficulties many of us cannot even imagine dealing with. The video also aims to give a reason for the fact that 5000 Hindus migrate to India each year. Perhaps the most heartbreaking part of the video is the story of a father whose daughter was abducted and converted. He breaks down as he tells the team that he hasn’t seen his daughter in almost 9 years.
Have a look at the video to better understand what countless Hindus are going through within a country that is as much theirs as it is ours:
Hindus in Pakistan face a plethora of problems in their day to day functioning, especially those in South Punjab. There are also growing problems of forced conversions and marriage that they face. We look into the lives of Hindus in South Punjab to voice their unheard narratives and the conditions that they live in, and help identify how this situation can be bettered for them.A Mishermayl Productions & An AAWAZ ProjectResearch: Safiya AftabConcept: Fareed Ishaque and Ali Aftab Saeed Script: Majid Siddique NizamiSubtitles: Fareed IshaqueVoice Over: Maham NazPost and Edit: Farhan AdeelDOP: Irfan Ullah Directed and Produced by: Madiha GulExecutive Producer: Ali Aftab Saeed Special thank you to Safiya Aftab, Muhammad Jamal Janjua and Arif Taj#mishermaylseries #hindusinsouthpunjab #protectourminorities #socialawareness #mishermaylproduction #socialjutice #equality #solidarity

The video started a discussion in the comments, where some people stated that the Muslim community should be ashamed about how the minorities are treated
Some called the video a voice for Hindus raised by Muslims
Some considered it heartbreaking but wanted more positivity to be highlighted
Some were utterly heartbroken and wished to help
While others stated this had more to do with poverty than with religion
Some pointed out how both countries face the same problem and, perhaps, a little communication could go a long way
Some claimed the video was a lie because they personally know people who are living in better conditions
And some firmly believed that minorities have equal rights in Pakistan
While the video received a mixed response, it cannot be denied that the figures and stories presented are eye-opening and heartbreaking at the same time. It makes you reflect upon how we treat minorities and tend to view them as outsiders, forgetting that this nation is their homeland as well. What is your take on this? Let us know in the comments.
