Pakistanis Are Sharing Things That Last Longer Than The Government's Stance & It's Actually Pretty Funny

By Fareeha Akhtar | 2 Nov, 2018

Do you have any things that last longer than the government’s stance?

The entire country has been shutdown, following protests by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool over Asia Bibi’s acquittal. The situation was exceptionally worse on Thursday because people were stuck in offices, children were stuck in schools while TLP blocked roads and burned tyres. Everyone waited on PM Imran Khan to announce something, anything. Then he made his speech and boy did he deliver! He gave a harsh, strong-worded speech that gave us hope.

Only to kind of backtrack the next day. There were rumors after Punjab’s Information Minister Fayyaz Chohan said they’re considering putting Asia Bibi’s name on the ECL. But soon that stance was reversed too. So to deal with all this flipping over of the Government people have come up with a hilarious hashtag #ThingsThatLastLongerThanTheGovernmentsStance

There are some pretty funny things people are sharing that last longer than the Government’s stance

As usual, Imran Khan’s history was dragged in to it too

Tatti jokes are the best!

Skip this part if you’re underage!

Food jokes, of course!

Khanay ka mazaak nahein lekin chalein.

Sorry Karachi peeps, that’s just how it be sometimes.

Cricket jokes ke baghair hum zinda kesey reh saktay hain

This tweet takes the cake though

Huney, we’ve all been there.

While the issue of the government backtracking was denied by Fawad Chaudhry, let’s thank Fake News for giving us the opportunity to laugh in these tense days.

What do you think lasts longer than the governments stance? Tell us in the comments.
