1. Dobara Phir Se
Although Dobara Phir Se isn’t exactly a travel movie but it has got adequate traveling to awaken your wanderlust. The road trip across USA, the trip around Karachi and the general visuals revolving around New York and an upscale Connecticut suburb are all you need to watch to get out of your bed and travel around, even if it’s just around Karachi.
2. Balu Mahi
Balu Mahi is a quintessential travel film with hints of romance and comedy. Ainy Jaffri is looking to run away from a forced marriage while Balu aka Osman Khalid Butt is just gatecrashing a wedding. Together, the travel around Lahore and the northern areas of Pakistan.
3. Dukhtar
Dukhtar is shot in the beautiful mountains of Hunza, for the most part. Although, it isn’t a traveling film either but the mother-daughter duo run across the mountains is enough to inspire the wanderer in you.
4. Khoye Ho Tum Kahan
An eastern adaptation of the Alfred Hitchcock classic Dial M for Murder, the lead actors in Khoye Ho Tum Kahan go to Skardu to solve the mystery.
5. Without Shepherds
Without Shepherds is a Pakistani indie-film. From the streets of Karachi to the Afghan border, the film is centered around six people fighting in turmoil and struggling for a different tomorrow in today’s Pakistan.
6. Janaan
The main actress lives in Canada but returns to her ancestral hometown Swat after 11 years and goes through some intense cultural shock, so yeah!
7. Moor
Highlighting the issues of lost livelihood in Baluchistan, Moor puts forth the exceptionally beautiful scenery of the province with its remarkable cinematography.
8. Slackistan
Shot in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, Slackistan brings to light an Islamabad that most of us don’t know about. You have to watch it to be mesmerized by the beauty of Islamabad that will definitely make you want to take trip to the capital city.
9. Khuda Kay Liye
While the content of the movie is definitely not wanderlust-y, the visuals definitely are. Mary or Mariyam, played by Iman Ali, is tricked by her father into marrying her cousin and is forced to stay at FATA after her forced marriage. Her run across FATA and Shaan’s journey across Chicago are enough to inspire the curious traveler in you.
10. Armaan
Shot in Ayubia and surrounding areas, Armaan is an old Pakistani film featuring the chocolate hero of the country, Waheed Murad. It will invoke some nostalgia and some wanderlust. What else do you need?
11. Oye Kuch Kar Guzar
Oye Kuch Kar Guzar was touted as Pakistan’s first digital film. Although, it doesn’t really puts forth any beautiful scenery, the long train journey, however, does help build that anticipation of wanting to travel.
12. Ramchand Pakistani
Ramchand Pakistani is unique in a way that it’s shot in Nagarparkar, a small town in Tharparkar. It inspired me to explore the desert that is Tharparkar and amusingly, I did eventually. So yeah, it might even help you explore the south of the country, as well.
13. Karachi Se Lahore
The movie is literally about travelling from Karachi to Lahore. Doesn’t get more travel-enthusiastic than this.
14. Lahore Se Aagey
Of course, if Karachi Se Lahore is something you want to watch as a travel movie, you must give its sequel a chance, as well. Starring the ever-exquisite Saba Qamar, the movie really does take you a journey (of more meanings than one).
15. Chalay Thay Saath
Starring Syra Shehroz in the scenic Hunza Valley. With the Chinese-Canadian import, Kent S Leung as her hero and a bunch of other beautiful people in a beautiful setting. Could anything be more wanderlust-y than these folks?
