Pakistani Celebrities Are Asking For Peace Between India And Pakistan

By Iman Zia | 27 Feb, 2019

War is on the forefront at the LOC, with Indian troops shelling across the border in the early hours of the morning, and Pakistan retaliating by shooting down two Indian Airforce jets. The Kashmir conflict is escalating, and it’s catalyzing tension between Indians and Pakistanis. One plane fell inside Pakistani territory while two pilots have allegedly been captured, according to the BBC.

While opinions are incredibly divided on social media, after last night’s shellings, our Pakistani celebrities have been advocating peace and not war as innocent lives are being lost in a conflict that’s getting out of hand. The hashtag #SayNoToWar has been trending.

Feroze Khan tweeted earlier in the morning, calling to “give peace, kindness and life a chance.”

Urwa Hocane supported our troops but remained adamant that war is not the answer; “we don’t want war.” She saluted the Army for sending out a message that they wanted peace.

Farhan Saeed stressed the statement “Peace, not war” repeatedly to India, but indirectly warned them too that if they do not accept it then there will be consequences.

Hareem Farooq also agreed that “war is no victory for anyone,” and stressed the importance of human life.

Armeena Khan urged everyone in Kashmir to stay safe, after calling out Priyanka Chopra for her Pro-India tweet being a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.

Mawra condemned those preaching for war, and used a powerful quote to express her opinion; “there can be NO winners in war if we value human life at all.”

Iqra Aziz went on a much-needed tirade, denouncing those who are “cheering for war” and said that “killing each other is not a solution, peace is.”

Maria Memon too stated that if both countries resort to war, then it is a “failure of policy.”

Faysal Quraishi simply wished that our troops be alright amidst what could turn into one of the deadliest battles Kashmir has seen in decades.

Famous BBC Urdu host Fifi Haroon simply put up the emblem of peace; a dove.

Hamza Ali Abbasi, as we all know is overtly patriotic in our nation’s matters, and while his latest tweet didn’t entirely suggest peace, he did salute our PAF jets.
