By Sajeer Shaikh | 20 Nov, 2017

Osman Khalid Butt is no stranger to speaking up against the double standards that exist in our society, or for calling people out in general.

Remember when he stood up for Maya Ali against her bullies?

Or how about when he shut shit down with one simple picture regarding the Mahira Khan controversy?

Well, he’s back at it again, and he’s telling people like it is, just like before. This time around, however, he’s speaking against something that’s all too prevalent in our society: male privilege.

To provide some context, Bata recently released an advertisement where this terrible message was shown:

After pissing off countless people, Bata took down the ad and issued what seemed to be a half-hearted apology:

Now that you’re all caught up, let’s move on to Osman Khalid Butt and his savage tweet that “fixed” Bata’s ad:

By calling out Bata and acknowledging the existence of male privilege, Osman successfully pointed out how such ads are never okay and they stem from years of male privilege that make such wrongdoings seem acceptable. It’s a highly appreciable move, given that Osman has a huge platform and a plethora of followers who hang on to every last word.

His fans appreciated this move:

Some even saw the humor in it.

Others hoped it could be just as easy to solve the actual problem with the prevailing mindset in our nation.

And some said that Osman won the Internet for the day.

We don’t know about the Internet, but Obi has definitely won our hearts. It’s pivotal to have male celebrities show this level of awareness to help eradicate the patriarchal mindset that exists in our society.
