The Stock Exchange Just Went On A Wild Roller Coaster Ride After Nawaz Sharif's Disqualification

By Ather Ahmed | 28 Jul, 2017

Some historic stuff happened today in Pakistan. The Supreme Court gave its verdict on the whole Panama thing. As per the verdict, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is disqualified. After months of giving us material for a variety of memes, it’s over. Mr. Sharif has been declared ‘unfit to hold office’.

Naturally people of Pakistan had a lot to say about the whole ordeal. Twitter for instance blew up.

Yes it finally happened, “Go Nawaz Go” became “Gone Nawaz Gone

The Bad Boy of Pakistani politics Sheikh Rasheed went savage AF

Calm down Sheikh sahab, we get it

Obviously trolls were gonna pounce on the occasion

And pounce they did

There were 13 Reasons Why references

Someone even started retweeting old Maryam Nawaz Posts to fit current context

Lets just say the whole trolling thing got out of ‘hand’ at one point

Long story short most of the people were in celebratory mood and the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), in particular, saw its members chanting against the ousted PM

It is quite ironic that people at PSX were happy at the verdict. I mean right before the decision the the market dipped down significantly. And even before that the whole Panama case has caused a lot of investors to lose their money. You know because of the whole political instability being bad for business. I guess they are just happy that the worst is over. And the market did recover some of its loses in the latter half. So I guess everything sorta cool.
